The first Samba Soul is one of the best. Vincentico Valdez has a couple, too. Check out his self-titled, also from '77, which has a oft-covered bolero tune (the title escapes me at the moment) done in disco funk style with Moog bass and a breakdown

One of my favs is Jean Carn's Version of You Light Up My Life. Kinda more uptempo Philly Soul/Funk.

I've got a soft spot for the Terry Callier disco version of "Do It Again".

Amii Stewart's "Knock on Wood" is an obvious one...

I think Worst Disco Covers is deserving of a thread of its own.

All those disco-ized versions of classical music and TV theme songs, etc.

    Icky-face.

And this "I Can't Stand the Rain" cover (by Eruption with Precious Wilson) is pretty sad but I hear some sampling potential.

How bout those Charanga versions of Good Times and Ain't No Stopping Us Now.
Ronnie Jones - Under My Thumb
    The vocals kinda blow, however.

but what are your feelings about the "disco-ized" violin cover of the classic organ solo?

gotta say you are way off on this one! it's a dope pink floyd cover that always works on the dancefloor.

any Risco Connection tune is basically a killer reggae disco version of the original..."ain't not stopping us now", "i'm caught up", etc.
