I started working on this today. I used a break that someone posted int he dope drums thread. I chopped the break ad played it on my trusty SP-202, and then did some looping on Cubase. It's been a while since I've made any beats. It's fun. It's not done. What's everyone else up to?minipak.wav - 38.47MB

This one I made for a beatmakin' challenge months ago, using Jerry Goldsmith's "Double Cross" from the "Last Run" soundtrack. The drums are Thin Lizzy "Johnny The Fox" with some extra hihats layered up over it. Let me know watcha think, pleeeaasse.

There's one more sample source used, I wanted to see if the record experts here on Soul Strut know it?

cool stuff y'all, it was fun peeping all the different styles. I've kinda been trying to get back on the making beats tip a lil bit and made a few this weekend. Right now I'm chopping everything in cool edit and adding live electric bass, cuts and synth accents (lo bit roland).

^^I thought this sounded pretty good and interesting. I guess to get you're harmonic qualities and arrangement to an even higher level, you should pick up a record of a producer who your style sounds closest to and find out things you can add to the beat. I thought you're style of bass and dusty Rhodes samples on that beat reminded me of Jay Dee & DJ Spinna, I think they're the best at using that sound so they'd be good to take reference from. Keep up the good work!
