Just wanted to say who gets the props in here to coolhands, genepontecorvo, flatblackplastic and of course Harveycanal (Hoovers was just face melting) & my that dude advisor aleit for looking out & showing me an awesome time in the lovely city of Austin. My apologies to Zachd for not coming thru to the store, but I got tangled in a web of word wizardy with Friends of Sound Scrabble Champ G*%$. The food, the diggin, the late night poker, the mid-afternoon scrabble, and two sold out shows made for an awesome weekend.

Glad to hear that you had a nice visit.

Not sure if you heard about it, but Antone's Records was having a sale. I pulled through Saturday afternoon and came up with 25 12"s for 50 cents a piece, including...

MC Breed and DFC - Ain't No Future in Yo' Frontin'
    Grandmaster Flash - Supperrappin'
Funky Four plus One More - Rappin' and Rocking the House
Stetsasonic - Talkin' All That Jazz
    Big Moe - Barre Baby
    Wreckshop Allstars - Power Up

I still need to swing by Friends of Sound for their sale...hi Dave.

Most of my weekend was spent finishing up SXSW interviews of Dennis Coffey, Willie Tee, Billy Cook, and Money Waters.

The Longhorns lost a tough one to the Kansas Jayhawks.

And my YMCA basketball team took an L yesterday as well.

Take-out I had over the weekend: Tamale House and Pappasito's.

Nice phrasology. Good to meet you man. Sorry I flaked yesterday AM.

Man, I wish I'da knew Antone's was having a sale....they need to advertise.

Friends of Sound is the spot tho. It was POPPIN' Saturday afternoon...mad records, heated Scrabble battles, a lil' blazin action....highly enjoyable.

I would imagine that the sale is still going on. But don't get too excited...they're just trying to dump what they deem as their undesirable records...thus the "all 12"s for 50 cents" deal was probably the only sale area with anything good in it. Apparently, I hit 2 brand new crates which were noteworthy enough to keep me from having to dig through all of the crap that has been sitting there idle for years.

You and coolhands sounded like it wasn't likely to happen when we were talking saturday. G)&$ came thru and we went to Magnnolia's and he redeemed himself for taking a scrabble game off me before I jetted.

G)&$ used to produce a rap group that had a full length vinyl release.

    where did you eat?

Breakfasts: Mi Madras (bfast tacos were high post) and Magnolia
Lunches: Hoovers (chicken fried steak!!!), Home Slice Pizza (the time constraint after playing too much scrabble)
Dinners: uchi (everyone with dough visiting Austin should hit this joint up!), El Camino Casino (buffalo burger hit the late night spot!)

    Dessert: amy's Ice cream!!!!

  • glad you liked the food, i wanna hear some more details about what you had. that stuff is the definition of
who was the big winner at poker?

So if the shows sell out you get a bonus or somethin??

HC - damn I can't believe Antone's put those good 12's out amonst the dregs that have been there for ages. I was going to go reguardless but my @*)$)#* car has not been starting.

DJCHs - how did the sale go?? I wanted to check that too but, see above, car *($*(#$( troubles.

Do yall play hold'em? I have been wanting to get back in to some (NL) hold'em for a minute.

YBeats - looks like you hit all the right spots for food for sure. Hoover's chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak is one of the best. Home Slice pizza is the best Austin too.
