Selection #: 99351 Release Date: 5/18/1999 Label: Blue Note

etc, etc These are linked from Blue Note site to iTunes, Donald Byrd is not???

iTunes = the new major (clueless) label.

All the Mizell Blue Note LPs are worthwhile, then, if the Bartz-like stuff is what you desire.

    Donald Byrd-Blackbyrd/Street Lady/Caricatures/Stepping Into Tomorrow/Places and Spaces
    Bobbie Humphrey-Blacks and Blues/Fancy Dancer/Satin Doll

    also stuff like

    Ronnie Laws-Pressure Sensitive
    Ronnie Foster-On the Avenue/Cheshire Cat/Two headed Freap/Sweet Revival
Jack McDuff-To Find a New Home

Thanks......actually I'm not really a fan of the mizell's production but if I find at reasonable prices....... ...

anything on Prestige around 73 ? but I think that the label was out of business by that time.....can you confirm this ?

you know that's a Mizell production, too, right?
I am confused if this is the stuff you are looking for but don't like the Mizells.

you know, with the Mizell's ...it's sort of Love-Hate relationship (no Homo).....

...I love the soundtrack they did for Edwin Starr.....I like the Bobby Humphrey albums, and the aforementioned Gary Bartz Lp too,

but I can't get into most of the other stuff they produced...for example I don't like the first two by Byrd and Gears by Johnny Hammond

Maybe it's just a matter of individual songs and songwriting.......

Gary Bartz "Ghetto Fairy Tale" has some nice moments. If memory serves me correctly, I think its Prestige ca. '73.
