  • I havn't heard Tony Scott, but there is a crazy afro-cuban version of "Manteca" on this Swedish LP:

The Tony Scott is from mid 70's so I suspect it might be a bit fusionish.

  • Manteca is a cuban standard written by Dizzy. There are lots of covers... lalo did a good one on "en buenos aries" on RCA.

I haven't heard this album, but Scott did an amazing album in 67 for saba called "Djanger Bali" which is indian-jazz fusion.

YES I AM A EURO CAT!

and yes i have this one, and YES this record is (can i say it) DOPE!
or at least two good tracks on here is, manteca and one for topsy.

NOT a latin record, its jazz with some funk, the manteca version is
the last cut side 2 one for topsy is a bluesy jazzfunk vamp with some cool electric instrumentation, nice indeed!

i wouldnt throw $272 after a copy though.

Absolutely, when it comes to THAT AFRO CUBAN HEAT, always look for musicians with "??" in their names.
