That plays all the region coded discs as well as avi files.I'm getting frustrated converting the avi files to the dvd format only for the audio to playback messed up(slowed down).
But maybe I should just buy a wireless media extender.
As it stands now, I can send all my music, dvd's & video and even my cable TV to anywhere in the world using orb, but I hate leaving my computer on and my ISP is being a bitch about d/l & u/l caps. So it might have to be a new dvd player.
just picked up phillips dvp5960. it has a usb port on the front so you can play movies off an external hard drive or a flash drive. quality has been great and every movie ive tried has been compatible with it. you can also burn like 4 avi's onto a dvd-r and watch those.
I'm waiting to see if BluRay takes off before I buy a DVD player. For now I use a MacBook with a mini vgi to rgb pluged into my 32" bravia. Plays DVD's and any media I can play on my computer, including avi files, but what's up with these avi's that I download with no sound? Is that a Mac problem?
Fuck an Apple TV, I'm thinking about buying a Mac mini for that. Serve up all my media since we have 3 macs already. It would be nice to centralize the medea. OK, that wasn't what was asked so I'm out.....

Thanks for the recommendations peeps, the Philips one looks like the move.
Haz,it's the strangest thing the first 2 shaw bros movies that i converted worked out fine. But the 2 recent ones that i tried to do have the audio problem.

Yo dude,
what program are you using to do the conversion? I really like convertxtodvd. It's free on torrent sites. I can also rapidshare it for you, if you like.
I'll also chime in and say the 5960 is the best bang for the buck. The only reason you'd wanna go with a more expensive model is if you had a high-definition TV and wanted to play HD DivX files on it.

that's dope. I was just wondering if they started making DVD players that could do the .avi thing. Are there any that use the VLC codec?
