gonna be in Boston with the ladyfriend the first week in March...diggin spots, food spots, accomodations, under the radar stuff...anything...thanks in advance!
It can be overkill for some but it has the most diverse and creative breakfast menu I've ever come across ... incredible omelettes, sweet stuff like peanut butter pancakes and macadamia nut french bread french toast topped with whipped cream, kiwi and strawberry ... its a lot of fun but be prepared for a wait during prime weekend hours (11-1).
I just realized someone bought me a title...ha! I wonder who that was?

OK, gonna be there the 6th 7th and 8th...got a nice place to stay, The Copley Square Hotel, now I need some stuff to do...sent an email to a dude named DJ Vinny...but he must be a self-important douchebag because he didnt bother to write back to let me know if there were any nights going on...I thought he was supposed to be the man when it came to soul/ye ye/euro au go-go nights in Boston...I guess not. Twisted Village still got Jandek raers?

This place has an intense brunch. Not cheap but extremely satisfying. They must only be able to seat what, 18-20 people in that place!

Actually, if you are going to come to JP for breakfast, you should hit my new fav spot, Bon Savor, on the corner of Centre & Pond Streets, on the 500 block of Centre. Great authentic French brunch, comparatively cheap, and no lines outside like Sorella's and Centre St. Cafe.
Best of all, they serve until 3:30 PM on Sundays .. in fact, I'm out to go there right this damn minute! Avocado omelette here I come!
I recommend buying a GPS system for boston. I'm not even talking about for a car. i mean attach this to your person.
In JP especially. nothing can help you there. a map, a compas, a walkie talkie, spelunking gear. nothing.
you will go round and round and round and round the roundabouts until you vomit like riding the himalaya as a child at the county fair.
If you like well planned cities based around gridded, logically named streets (pref. numbered) you will die in Boston. Instead of keeping to logic, you need to embrace the absurd. Or take the (T).
yes, I have heard these things from my girl, who has been there many times before. I am counting on her to be my beantown sherpa. Just gonna park the rental car at the hotel and hoof it and use the T.
Really just wanna take in the aquarium, find the best Lobster roll and maybe buy some records...not really dig, but just go to shops where the records are alphabetized and have price tags...any place good? Thinking maybe Cambridge has some decent spots? Perhaps?
in your ear in boston is good for 45s...or atleast it used to be. looney tunes in boston (over by newbury street can be ok for lps and such). last i heard boston stores are pretty dry and the stores that put shit in the bins regularly, soul on ice has on locked down. go to cambridge brewing company and drink some beer. they brew their own and its pretty good. have fun.
oh....and prolly a sealed copy of the tough guys ost for $30.
LOL - there really are 10 sealed copies in every store ... but you can get them for $10 from the right spots ... that will probably be one of those records where 20 years from now I'll be telling some young timmy D, "there used to be $10 sealed copies of that one everywhere, now they're all gone..."
That Geto Bros. sample is must-have, no matter what

SoI, with Latin Raer on the brain- geto BOYS, fool!
Seriously, get some brew, have some clam chowder (not from legal's, tho) and walk around A nice, small, OLD American city.
Not the greatest record town in America, but you can find a couple things. Check In Your Ear over in Alston...that's your best spot. Reid is a good dude, he'll help you out.
Feel free to PM if you need any recs, help, etc. Enjoy yourself.

i will always rep boston, but i hate this fucking city. in the summer its best, all the fools leave, and the pace is just right.
thanks for the info and help fellas...Im good on the Tough Guys OST though, in fact I just bought a bad of weed in Issac Hayes old crib...lotsa Isaac stuff in this town. Lookin' forward to my little trip. I'll check out the In Your Ear spot...45s is what I'm mainly after...

If I'm around and we can arrange it, I might be able to meet up and swap/sell some 45's. Try to hook up a lil' trade box of 45's and I'll get some shit together - we might rouse the brother KitchenKnight out, too.
Ill try and get a box together, but I cant promise anything...I DJ until 3AM and then have to catch the 6AM flight. I am sure I will have taken some of the heatery to DJ with and wethter or not I remember to snag those records while I reassure my girl we arent gonna miss the flight, shower, call the cab and scarf down some breakfast remains to be seen...
