Sorry, but I've got to take issue with Illegal Business being considered a "crack album". Its cover would certainly make you think so...that's reasonable. But if you really break it down, Mall was waaaaay more a player than he ever was a dealer.

If you wanted to call it the 2nd best rap album ever, sans sub-category, I'd be straight with that though.

btw I've been wondering about this since I first saw that video, I've heard so much about these dudes but never heard much music...how hard is the mobstyle shit to find? I know that blood on my money can be had for pennies, but the shit you're posting about...(from like '91)?

I see Game of Death on Lp with relative frequency. You could probably grab one for under $20. The Good The Bad The Ugly is a bit harder to turn up. Street Wise is, i believe, cassette only, and subsequently pretty hard to find if you're not prone to looking for tapes.

Also I seem to recall AZ or someone affiliated with him selling cd reissues on a website, but i can't seem to find it right now.

Did I completely misunderstand the 'plex 'phors on this one?

lookout for the man with the mask and the white pony...

i always took this as a literal refernce to the cover of the book. it was my understanding that the catalyst to this song was the book anyway.

I am disconnected from the paperback lizards. that being said there are several explicit crack references on that album ("dirty south") and while i wouldn't say the drug trade is the sole theme, it's part of the larger theme. none of the albums being discussed are exclusively about crack.

But really this ongoing attempt to pigeon hole "crack rap/trap hop" as a genre is absurd and i shouldn't have even entered this thread. more often than not i am feeling that way about this message board.

  • Is it time for another "The OC" thread?

I agree, but I think its fun trying to locate the artworks that support the idea, no matter how imaginary.

Doesn't EGOTRIP have a Song Sbout Crack List?

    I NEED THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember Mister Magic playin' this.
I think it's the reason why P.E. put that Farrakhan sample up in their song.

U'd consider Ready To Die a CRACK-Centric Hip Hop Album?
