Never done this before: I'm trying to record a few LPs to some blank CDRs in a stand alone CD recorder but whenever I press "record" the display reads "No Disc DA:D2". There is most definately a blank disc inside. What gives?

  • some CDRs don't like some brands of CDRs. I'd try with another brand/type of CDR

  • also, make sure you have CD-R for Stand Alones...they have a special little file on them, just CD-Rs for computers sometimes dont work in the players.

My computer has something against Office Max CD-Rs, it always recognizes them as CD-RWs for some reason, it writes slow as hell in the CD-RW mode.

    You need a "CDR Audio/Music".

yeah and actually try to get a slow speed disk. Standalone Cd-R recorders like to use discs that burn at speeds from 4x to 10x. Any faster and it screws up the laser over time and will give you weird results and errors. These are the speeds they also use in pro mastering.
