    Just out of curiousity: are you saying that you don't care for Jeezy at all, or just on this particular tape (I haven't heard it yet)?






    And just an aside: by far my favorite tape by an unsigned artist this year is that Uncle Murder joint with Green Lantern. Recommended to anyone in search of THAT REAL NEW YORK SCHITT.

    Nearing 26 has me feeling kind of old and so, I've playing a lot of catch-up.

    From what I've heard of Jeezy's material (admittedly not much), it's just not my sound. Something about the mechanics? Too dry and soulless for my rap sensibility? Not quite sure how to describe it...that's why I asked what people hear in him they like so much.



    What should I be checking for that's classic?

    Wait until you near 30.

    His earlier Trap or Die tape with DJ Drama--the tape that really made both of them--would probably give you the best sense of what he's about. And I think his album is a classic. It's not for everyone, though. It's really much more about the delivery than the lyrics and a large part of the appeal is that his stuff is not nearly as considered as that of someone like T.I. or the Clipse.
