my radio show together for tomorrow - which invloves
listening to dozens of tracks...found a few small label
rock 45's in my boxes that I had somehow never played or
checked out before...great stuff like Freeman Sound on
Starshine and The Balladeers on Cori...onto the playlist they go!
45's:
- Mel & Tim, "Good Guys Only Win In The Movies"
- Mel & Tim, "I May Not Be What You Want"
- Johnny Nash, "You Got Soul"
CD's
- the Superbs (excellent low-rider harmony soul from the sixties)
- Circus Maximus (just bought this self-titled 1967 album yesterday - NY psychedelia featuring Jerry Jeff Walker, kinda folk-rockish, surprisingly garagey, and pretty damned good!)
- Doris Duke (southern soul)
there were more sides than this, but these are the ones that come to mind right now
"IT'S A WRAP"
I NEEDS THIS, BADLY
I was working on a remix for our CD earlier, and sat around listening the resulting track. Then, me and wifey watched Dexter, after which, I listened to some tracks I made recently. Earlier today, I also listened to:
-"Nothing But Soul"-Gene Ammons.
-"S/T"-Raices.
-"Loving Power"-The Impressions.
Peace,

Listening to Chouzu. Next up is Islaja.
Cold, cold wind has arrived. Brrr.
working on today's blog entry
trying not to do much real work...
Been lifting weights for the first time in 5 years.
Been going to high school football games again.
Been proud of my daughter for adjusting well to part-time day-care.
Been helping my wife finish up the first major stage of her dissertation.
Been helping my wife help the Public Offenders who have been doing shows all over town as of late.
Been watching the Saints and Longhorns kick ass in football.
Been smoking too much weed.
Been listening to albums from Baboon, Ryno and VIP.
Been indulging my daugher in her eagerness to listen to 45's on her Fisher Price turntable. She almost always asks to hear the "la la la" song which is MIA's Galong.
Been helping Tee Double with his production by providing sample sources from the Narcisse-Banks Community Resource Center.
Been writing a sports blog in addition to my usual music workload.
Been researching for a feature that will blow doors down here in Austin. This included a big roundtable discussion I hosted at my house this weekend that brought together 3 generations of rappers (Tee Double-Mirage-Supreme-Basswood Lane-Public Offenders/2-3 Mic Breakaz) from my hood.
Been looking forward to this little vacation that we're about to take.
This jazz mix that I assume is all strata-east (judging by the name)
