The term has been watered down with so many non-backpack wearing ma'fuckas. J5, Atmosphere, Def Jux. Was the trend that spurned the term even that big?UMCsBoot CampLONSGrand Puba... who else? I'm writing a report on it.

  • I always thought "backpacker" referred to the legions of kids who turned up at the shows wearing empty backpacks or maybe a stack of flyers advertising an open mic nite.

dam near everybody (as in real young n****z in the streetz, not corny ass suburban ass mofos) wore backpacks in like 92 - 93. which is why the current connotation of a "backpacker" is so ridiculous to us real headz who know the deal.

I can remember wearing them in the late 80's to carry my records around. Started with a radio show I had at school, which I had my books and some wax in.

But I remember damn near everyone had one after the Who got the props video dropped.

Nah, dude said rhyme pages. I was gonna say knives and razors, but Phill said boxcutters which is more on point. Everything's covered, even Big Stacks saying having your DATs in there.
