Got Roy Ayers 1st album "West Coast Vibes" on Ebay for $10.00. This album is straight ahead jazz, nothing like his Atlantic & Polydor funk stuff....still good though. West Coast Vibes

Don't think so......I've played it for a few folks and asked $10.00 which they all happily agreed to...I just don't think it's a known quantity out there but I could be wrong.

    Hey J*stin,
I'm assuming you know, but that Haze record is worth a bazillion dollars.

  • Scorpio Brother Troy & I headed out to Newport News VA for a record store that had thousands of 2-buck 45s but few remarkable ones. A couple hours of digging yielded only 3 for me and none for Troy (though he did score the non-foldout ANDROMEDA STRAIN OST for $7.50):

    Jackie Lee: Your P.E.R.S.O.N.A.L.I.T.Y. 45
Bobby Bland: Lover With A Reputation 45
    Mitty Collier: My Party 45

Their rock LP section had a lot of interesting 60s-70s items that you don't see every day, but needledrops kept me away from most of the ones that looked promising. I only got:

    Folkswingers: RAGA ROCK ($7.50)
    Terry Reid: s/t ($10)

A quick visit to Plan 9 in Richmond VA yielded nothing, which was a first for me.

But nice guy that he is, Troy gave me these out of his sale box for free just for coming to spin at Ipanema on Friday (which was low-key but fun):

    Jimmy McGriff: SOUL SUGAR LP
Parliament: UP FOR THE DOWN STROKE LP
Whatnauts: Help Is on the Way 12"
    Bird Rollins & The Burners: Do-It Do-It Do-It Do-It 45

I also spun w/ Mordecai & CousinLarry at Mord's radio show before the Ipanema gig. I played all NC funk & soul and had a blast hanging out with those dudes. Here's the link:

FINAL SCORE FOR MY VIRGINIA ROADTRIP:

    GOOD TIMES - 3
    RECORDS - 0

The local record show was pretty good to me today:

oo la la I've wanted that Bettye for a while - New Apocalypse has some ill ill drums

Also grabbed around 20 45's at the show - here's a few of the best:

Nothing exceptionally raer, but pure soul heat here...Lost is Boston garage classic.

I also had quite a busy day with the yard sales & thrifts yesterday:

Minty Collins & Collins for $1 is sweet, as is Mexican surf music raer...

Recently missing the local press of that Bettye Swann at the local record fair for $2 by a couple of minutes is a tragedy I will not soon recover from. Time has not mellowed that Faith record, it is still sweet.

  • Salvation Army HEAT! All the Brazilian stuff was 75 cents a pop...

Terry Plumeri ??? He Who Lives in Many places (Airborne) : good jazz with Herbie Hancock, John Abercrombie, etc

That was recorded for Blue Note, but shelved. So Terry put it out on his own label. Note: RVG recording. That's a great record IMO and I've found several over the years. Terry was from DC and put out two records on Airborne. They pop up rarely, but when they do (in DC) usually in SS lots.

Mack, that "Raphael" would be the spanish equivalent to Neil Sedaka.

It's funny to see spanish crap posted as finds. I guess it's just because, well, the titles are in spanish.

All in the name of "moody loops"
