    dope

It's been so dry out here lately I'd have better luck finding fucking gold in a palm tree than decent records.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one suffering.

So you expect the people to believe that "anthonypearson" is not simply one of your aliases?

  • We are merely brothers of the same mind, unblind.

Mark is still stewing in anger because people don't jock his collections of shwag I guess.

I bought quantity of several Wackies titles, reupped on Negril LPs, scooped a mono blue note in the morning and flipped it in the afternoon, received James Mason and Marva Whitney LPs in the mail, and sold about $1000 worth of records yesterday. My deepest apologies to all that I didn't give a play-by-play on soulstrut. Hopefully this will end the undoubtedly great suspense as to whether or not I bought records over the weekend.

I'll try to get some pictures together when I get a minute. In the meantime check out the Negril LP on waxidermy.

No one asked for your play-by-play, player.

Sounds like Good Records had a good weekend though, good to hear.

  • It would've been better if I could've posted a box of America LPs under the caption "FUCK YALL"...

    Do it or yer soft.

  • hit a couple neighborhood yard sales, not a lot but quality; mint[/b] copies for a buck:

    Coltrane- Africa/Brass (OG Impulse stereo)
Can- Future Days (some kinda Italian pressing)
    and a 'Superfly' VHS

  • a senior citizen got to a box about 10 secs ahead of me this morning at the flea. he got: samhain "initium" gray marble wax, gold misfits "horror business" ps45, all 4 diff colored minor threat 45s, some crazy sex pistols shit i've never seen before, plus about 15 other related vinyls. he almost put everything back when the seller told him $20 but then worked it to $15.
i offered him a bill for the lot but no dice.

    fuck the aarp.

  • Patrick Brennan Ensemble- Soup (private jazz ish, was kind of expecting but it's actually pretty good!)
V/A- Unite (private LP from San Jose, looks to be late 60s. Handwritten paragraph on the back about "the movement" and how to press your own records. I did a couple needledrops at the store and didn't recognize 'em, so I assumed it was a compilation of local stuff, but I got it home and now think it's just some pirated/bootleg thing, because there's definitely some Moody Blues and Buffalo Springfield on here)
    Sunny Murray Quintet- Aigu-Grave
L.D. Levy- The Eagle and the King
    Steve Tibbetts- Yr

That Soul Gold comp is the secret "Break In the Road" hookup...

Yea for sure it is. feeling that track heavily!

the New-Hi-Notes album is really cool too, it's on Soultown records and seems to pretty obscure... does anyone know anything about it? the Experimencion (cuban record) is really nice as well , and the 'Disco & Soul Dances' has a HOT cover of Brass Construction 'Movin' as well as some other good stuff (fatback band covers).

  • (fatback band covers).
    Which songs?

it isn't in front of me, but for sure a cover of 'let's do the bus stop' and the other one is 'spanish hustle' (i think thats a fatback tune). the lp is from 1976

  • Spanish Hustle was made by Fatback.

You gotta post up an mp3 of Bus Stop.

Just a few odds and ends this week - the Gamble comp is worth
the price for a rare Frankie Beverly joint alone, but there's a
few real nice, tough to find tracks on there. Afro National is
a pretty scarce LP on Makossa with a couple funky female vocal tracks.

45's were pretty good to me this week - here's the best of the stack:

  • That tjader record has been for sale at my local record shop forever, priced at $8. It's not very impressive

  • Recent purchases from flea markets and shops:

De La Soul: Is Dead LP
Sugar Bear: Ready To Penetrate 12"
Afro-Rican: Give It All You Got 12"
MC Cool Rock & MC Chaszy Chess: Boot The Booty 12"
    The 45 King: Beat Suite / 900 Number 12"
    Salt-N-Pepa: Push It 12"
Stetsasonic: Sally / DBC Let The Music Play 12"
Audio Two: Many Styles / Questions 12"
Afrika Bambaataa & The Jazzy Five: Jazzy Sensation 12"
Wayne & Charlie: Check It Out 12"
Mr. Lee: I Can't Forget 12" on Trax
    The Trio: Conflagration LP
    Fela: Afrodisiac LP
    Black Foundation Dub LP
    Ranking Dread: Girls Fiesta LP
    Ofra Haza: Yemenite Songs LP
