    recently a fan of the first album (it slipped past me at first)...not sure about the new shit...but, really diggin their first...a lot.

    their first album is one that will never leave my crates. re:Release was kind of blahhh...a little too much...i just ended up ripping a promo cd i got in the mail, and editing the track lists to mirror the og. i'll check this when it comes out...

    So I recently took another listen to the re:release of the Juggaknots clear blue skies in the car on the way back from the airport, about a two hour drive. I've found that when I want to give something a second chance, the best place to do it is in the car, when I'm alone and driving on the interstate. I don't have to think about much of anything, and I can generally concentrate well on the music (as long as that trucker does not cut me off).

    I was going along, kind of on the record. And then I got to track 20, the original version of "Clear Blue Skies." Suddenly, I was all I listened to it at least five times in a row, maybe more. And then it made me listen to the whole album again with a different perspective. Unfortunately, most of the rest of the album was still kind of in my opinion, but my god, "Clear Blue Skies" is just incredible.

    Now I understand that there is some legal DRAMA about the song and the sample that it uses, which is why it appears as a "hidden" track on the album. From a legal perspective, it shouldn't much matter if a track is "hidden" or not - if the sample is uncleared, its uncleared, and folks are taking a risk. I suppose its less of a risk when the track is "hidden", but in the digital age, where iTunes teams up with CDDB to show you even the squirrely track list of Chains and Black Exhaust, a track doesn't stay hidden for long.

    Anyway, according to (yes I took it there), the sample is "Stormy" by The Meters. Can anyone vouch for that? Is this the case? I have a deaf spot for samples. They have to be WOW THAT'S ... for me to hear them.

    PS I haven't heard the second record. does it have any song that is remotely as good as the original version of "Clear Blue Skies"? And is it true that the smiths are all teachers in the NYPSD? if so, that's

    I love the first album all around, "Clear Blue Skies" is good because of how desperately tragic it sounds. Breezly is one of my favorite rappers. The new album is good, but kind of disappointing? I was expecting more I guess. Breezly still sounds great though. What an ugly album cover!

    When I first got the re:release, I put it in my computer, and removed all the freestyles, and resequenced it to match the original release. It GREATLY improves the flow and overall experience of the album.

    "Circle pt. 1," and "Jivetalk," are both good tracks, but "Loosifa," is one of my favorite hip hop songs of all time. Incredible....Up there with "Clear Blue Skies".

    Try listening to the album as it was originally meant to be heard, and I think it will greatly improve your view of the whole.

    didn't hear the original release when it came out, but re:release has some really dope songs. "Sex tpye thang" is hard as fuck and one of the few tracks that epitomizes everything that was good about mid 90's rap. the beat, the sample, the ruggedness, really dope. loosifa of course is out of question. dope material. havent heard the new one...

    The original release is one of the best hip-hop records to come out in the 1990s. I am not at all blowing smoke when I say that. It's stupid how good that record is.

    I listed a spare for sale or trade a few days ago to crickets.



    Suffice to say that people gotta start ackin' right around here.

    "Tell it to hell is it I feel my brain swell like meningitus..." Can't believe no one has commented on the way Breezy rips that verse where it seems like he's taking two giant breathes. By far one of my favorite albums and great to listen to on a chill rainy overcast day.

    Gotta agree with lama though...from what I have heard from the new album I am not impressed. The beats I heard just didn't impress me like the first album.

    JRoot: One of the tracks (I think Watch Ya Head [Remix]...not by my tables right now) is off the War - The World Is A Ghetto album.

    kitchenknight: Loosifa is my favorite track on there as well. The sample they used for the track came from Les Mccann and Eddie Harris - The Swiss Movement which is an easy record to find, yet one of my favorite jazz records.

    Paycheck: If you still have a copy of the rekkid I'd be interested. Hit me with a PM. Only lately have I seen OG copies starting to pop up on the bay after a very long dry spell. I'm a little short on cash...but maybe we could work something out. I agree with you though in it being one of the best hiphop records to come out of the 90's.

    i cant really find the lp right now so does anyone know what im talking about? i think it was just like a minute or so and then it faded out

    You know, I never even heard the Juggaknots. Seriously, like I was kind of disconnected to a lot of indie rap during the 90s.

    I would like to hear this CLEAR BLUE SKIES record that everyone always talks about.
