traditionally for me it's been "A House is Not a Motel", but lately I've been loving "The Good Humor Man He Sees Everything Like This".
Comments
"Little Red Book"
"Maybe The People Would Be The Times..."
"You Set The Scene"
"Alone Again Or"
"Good Times" (off Four Sail)
etc etc etc
I came into work late so I could listen to Da Capo and Forever Changes all the way through.
PERFECT!
Traditionally its been exclusively tunes off Forever Changes, too ("Andmoreagain" above all else). But lately I've been feeling "Singing Cowboy" off Four Sail.
Four Sail is criminally slept on IMO. But in my opinion there's 3 different loves: Forever Changes, pre-Forever Changes and post-Forever Changes.
Outside Forever Changes I always really liked She Comes In Colours, was years before I knew what it was actually about.
True that. Arthur Lee was the only original member on Four Sail, so it does sound like the completely different band it is.
Any other thoughts on Arthur's solo work?
Here's 4, one from each of the really good albums:
"Signed D.C."
"The Castle"
"Maybe the People Would be the Times...." (sick, sick trumpet on the bridge)
"Dream"
Also, "Robert Montgomery" is almost the best Neil Young song ever.
with "7 and 7 Is" a close second
The Ambassadors. I really love you
Gene Chandler. Just be true
Betty Lavette. Hey love
Major Lance. Sweeter as the days go by
Milton Westley. Gee whiz
... ETC...
jesus
I'll say "You Set the Scene" or "Message to Pretty"
but I really have to say too many to answer honestly.
NOT LOVE SONGS.
"Laughing Stock"
"Gather Round"
It is very clear now... Next time I'll post I swear to read the entire thread! That's what it's all about when you post in a hurry...
I think I heard it last at Sheer Magic's june? may? funkday in the shy...
on here do not read the threads that they post in...which explains ALOT.
w/LOVE
"Signed D.C."
Solo:
"Hamburger Breath Stinkfinger"
First time I saw Arthur was when he opened up for the very wasted Eric Clapton during his "461 Ocean Boulevard" Tour.
Arthur came out in dress and blew me away.
I should have left before Crapton took the stage.
R.I.P. Mr. Lee
either "the red telephone" or "the daily planet"...
and it took me a few years to grasp "forever changes"... i was into "little red book", "7 and 7 is" and "stephanie knows who" and thought FC was pussy shit... now i think it's the perfect pop record...
i was once in the Horton Plaza mall in downtown San Diego and a muzak version of that came on...
i certainly am a GUILTY convict
i have to admit that 91% of my input on soulstrut shall continue to be unrelated.
please take me as background noise, i am only able to splurk at wurk.
i do enjoy moments of escape into bulletin reality
so a LOVE song...
12 minutes of "Doggone"
