Anyone know of some good software to help clean wav files of pops, crackles, etc from vinyl while I'm doing transfers to mp3? I've found wave corrector, but are there any free programs?
If you know the right people or have broadband and P2P software all software is free. I find Cooledit Pro (now Adobe Audition) does a good job of cleaning up hiss pops and crackles from vinyl.
Sound Soap Pro seems to be ok, and the Waves plugins are cool too (there should be trial versions for both). If it's just clicks I simply draw them out, that way I'm sure nothing important gets wiped out.
