I'll be in London the night of July 2. Any advice on where to stay? Central and, as my budget has been properly blown on too many other things, reasonably inexpensive is ideal. Also, in the case that I'm not able to connect with friends, where should my one London dinner be? (Strut foodies, please to not recommend fat duck, as i have niether the reservations nor the means to make that happen). I'm always happy to connect with London strutters...

The Chef / Owner of St John is meant to be a well nice dude. Had something drastically wrong with him and to fix it he had open headed brain surgeon while still awake.

If you don't manage lunch there Canteen in Spitafields market has got one fantastic review and one so-so review I;ve read, never eaten there though. For cheaper but no less nice eats, the Square Pie company

si highly, highly recommended. You may also get lucky and there'll be a couple record stalls on the go at the market itself.
