Where are you finding all those Juan Alambert LPs? you dug up, "the Chant," this winter too, no?
Anyway, here's what I may be able to contribute...
Armando Peraza- Wild Thing. Probably closer to what you are asking for- piano, conga, etc.
Arsenio Rodriguez- ANYTHING! Goddamn, that Cuban guitar sound is perfect right now! Soul on Ice posted one on realheadz, and I can recomend "La Musica Afro Cubana," "Exitos," and a couple more I'm too lazy to dig out, because you can't go wrong with any. If you look around, this isn't too overpriced...I picked up 3 lps from the 'bay for $40 in March,
Also, since you like the vibes, most of Johnny Lytle's LP's have at least a couple latin tracks, and the other stuff is all good too. His mid-60's LP's on Riverside & Tuba usually have a nice setup of vibes/organ/bass & conga, or some variation thereof featuring latin percussion.
Village Caller, The Loop, Moon Child, Soulful Rebel - all recommended, among others.
Have you got the "purple one" on Prestige? Fire! They also did a record w/ eric Dolphy on New Jazz called "Caribe", and an untitled one (pic below) with a killer version of "night in tunesia".
Surprisingly good stuff. Just scored a copy myself on the ultra cheap. Why did this come out on trip??
I wasn't suprised Pharoah is the shit.
But not widely known as a Latin Jazz guy, hence the surprise.
What's the difference between that one and another LP called Pharoah Sanders and the Latin Jazz Quintet? I have both, but haven't checked yet. Is it just a different sleeve? I can't find a pic....anyone know what I am talking about?

He is, but his playing on this album isnt like the stuff ur used from hill at all. Less soulsearching, more grooving.
