"Calling You" by Jevetta Steele from this film is the song that first came to mind when I read the post title but it's more depressing than sad really.
The saddest song I think would be Arvo P??rt's Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten.
Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing? Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago? Where have all the flowers gone? Young girls pick them, every one! When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?
Where have all the young girls gone, long time passing? Where have all the young girls gone, long time ago? Where have all the young girls gone? Gone to young men, every one! When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?
Where have all the young men gone, long time passing? Where have all the young men gone, long time ago? Where have all the young men gone? Gone to soldiers, every one! When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?
And where have all the soldiers gone, long time passing? Where have all the soldiers gone, a long time ago? Where have all the soldiers gone? Gone to graveyards, every one! When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?
And where have all the graveyards gone, long time passing? Where have all the graveyards gone, long time ago? Where have all the graveyards gone? Gone to flowers, every one! When will they ever learn, oh when will they ever learn?
Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing? Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago? Where have all the flowers gone? Young girls picked them, every one. Oh, when will they ever learn? Oh, when will they ever learn?
Jeff Buckley's cover of "Hallelujah" makes me feel like a sad soccer mascot of the 2006 world cup.
lyrically i want to say Gilbert O'Sullivan's "Alone again (naturally)"...phuck those lryics make me want to slit my wrists, yet the melody is so nice and happy/upbeat
drinkin again and thinkin of when, when you loved me i'm havin a few and wishin that you were here
makin the rounds, accepting a round from strangers bein a fool just hopin that you'll appear
sure I can borrow a smoke, maybe tell some joker a bad joke but nobody laughs, they don't laugh at a broken heart
oh yeah, I'm drinkin again, it's always the same that same old story after the kicks there's little old mixed-up me tryin to lose a dream that used to be
look at me, I'm drinkin again, drinkin all over town yeah I'm drinkin again
drinkin again and thinkin of when, when you loved me i'm havin a few and wishin that you were here
makin the rounds, accepting a round from strangers bein a fool just hopin that you'll appear
sure I can borrow a smoke, maybe tell some joker a bad joke but nobody laughs, they don't laugh at a broken heart
oh yeah, I'm drinkin again, it's always the same that same old story after the kicks there's little old mixed-up me tryin to lose a dream that used to be

To me, it's a great style piece that doesn't have much replay value.
Recent efforts by Ice Cube and KRS-ONE (not that I've actually heard them or anything)
Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing?
Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago?
Where have all the flowers gone?
Young girls pick them, every one!

You sound ass-hurt.
i am willing to be ridiculed and say that some Joy Division songs are beyond bleak
you sound like a robot with 3 catch phrases
1. you sound ass-hurt
2. I hate...
3. ?
any song about armed men killing your elderly mother by throwing her out of a 2nd story window before burning her house down is pretty
...but if you don't speak English it's just a funky, feelgood afrobeat tune.

also air - realize

that same old story

look at me, I'm drinkin again, drinkin all over town
yeah I'm drinkin again
"ook at me, I'm drinkin again, drinkin all over town
yeah I'm drinkin again"
its like she knows
I prefer Sinatra's version.
