Huh! I just got this one with a B&W cover:
Is it a Pompeii thing? I know Black Man's Soul has
two covers, also, but I thought that was one on Atco one on Pompeii...
No mention of Atco on this one....I've been told by some locals that the color cover is 1st Press but there is no way for me to know for sure....this was a very weird local Dallas label that released a wide variety of styles.....most of them bad.

soul "wall of fame" and meant to ask then...
yeah the James Carr is og. Found it in some dude's collection who wasn't a soul-man, and he traded it to me for a double of something he wanted. It's super clean too. What an amazing record.
I'm not sure about the background to the Little Janice. The Pzzaz label was based out Los Angeles (Sunset Blvd). What I do know is it's a great soul record with some amazing production. I had seen it around in books and I was there when Guzzo found his for super cheap. I thought it was worth the $40 I shelled out for it.
Little Janice released some 45's under another name (Janice something or other) this was her only full length. I'd been after it for a while, I got nothing but love for local female soul LP's. All you need to know is the music is wonderful, ranges from funk to blues to softer soul. The cover art is ill and its well worth acquiring.

Finally copped a good Arthur Alexander set at the same spot, been wanting
his Dot stuff on vinyl for years: Arthur Alexander - You Don't Care - MP3 - he is GOAT material.
Dedham show landed me the Junior Wells LP, which is a monster, Aorta is
some dope Chi psych, nice 360 OG press, Merry Go Round is Mint OG and
a fantastic LP...I had read so many bad things about that Pretty Things LP,
I expected it to sound like Andre Kostelanetz or something, all the freakbeat
dudes dismiss it because there are strings and horns (and yet when the Kinks
or Beatles do it they are "genius?") but this record freaking rules...totally
dope songs and the orchestra is used perfectly and mostly unimposing throughout:

How's this Cyril Paul Lp? I don't have a player with me, and was a bit curious. I really liked the images on the back:
Oh, it's very, very good. Monk Higgins and Charles Stepney take turns
arranging songs...some funky almost Dyke/JB style, some straight but
heavy blues...loud drums, great playing throughout, and a Higgins-arranged
instro that cooks. Definitely one of the 2 or 3 best funky/soulful blues
records I have ever purchased.
