I think all those songs are banned at walmart.

    where the raps at?

    they're 'disco-nected from the streets' I guess...

  • I'm pretty sure dudes were just throwing stuff out, off the top of their heads.
but it's kind of a good thing to get a list to reference. I was not going to play too much of the stereotypical stuff. but I'll throw some in, since they want it. Most of this list, I just can't bring myself to play though. They will thank me later. There is another DJ playing as well. Let him play "It's raining men". etc. etc.

Oh, and this is no homo or hetero thing, but lemme hate on the entire human race:

could people just stop playing "You can leave your hat on" by Joe Cocker and doing those stupid strip-tease moves?

FOR ALL THE WEDDINGS OUT THERE: LESS CLICHE SONGS AND MORE DRUNKEN UNCLES GRABBING GIRLS ASSES, THAT'S WHAT WE NEED.

The last gay wedding I went to included none of these songs, although they did play Outkast "ATLiens," The Clash "Clampdown" and Leonard Cohen "Halleluyah."

    WHAT'S WRONG WITH THEM???

  • FatbackFatback 6,746 Posts
Gay parties are always the best...but only when they specifically request you NOT to play all those typical gay shits.

    Floor filler right there

I recently selected the music (ITunes, so it wasn't DJ-ing) for a gay party, and it went over really well...By the way, I played Bananeira by Emilio Santiago (inspired by you).

I'll dig up my playlists--what is the anticipated ethnic composition of the guests?

    white and gay.

That is what I was hoping. But you see what we are working with.
The good news is, I don't have to bring any equiptment whatsoever.
The trick is instead of playing, say, Dianna Ross "I will survive", i'll play
something like "Upside Down". I can work around the list and still throw in a few spacific items.
But I don't believe the people there, will want to hear all those songs from their list.

And It's not all "gay and white". but that was funny.

perhaps they are new to being gay, and not as deep into the music of the culture as others who have been gay a lot longer.

  • The trick is instead of playing, say, Dianna Ross Gloria Gaynor "I will survive", i'll play something like Diana Ross "Upside Down" "I'm Coming Out".
