I've been bringing home lots of great stuffs lately (spring time is great, isn't it?) including several sealed Watts 103rds Express Yourselfs and You're so beautifuls, but I thought for this finds post I'd focus on some more unknown (to me) records.
this is Clan Murphy, a Quebec band (one of the members is wearing one of those judge ribbons around her neck) that I don't really know much about. However, the record has some nice production and more than one groovy tune. Here's 'Eventail' .
Also, who knew that there was a good Fausto Papetti record? Not me! In all my digging I must've flipped through tons of these nudie covers, but for some reason I looked at the back of this one, and there's a cover of 'slipping into darkness'!
To make it a bit weirder, this record is also on the Quebec Trans-World label, and I thought all Fausto's came from Europe. Anyways, check it out: 'Slipping into Darkness'. It's not as good as the Ramsey Lewis version, but it's still good.
Working on it now...give me a second. Not as cool as I had hoped but, this might be the only cover ever. The Hook-Up played this for her brother and he said he just looked puzzled.
What I love best about this is that, how have we not all heard about this (not saying I did...I soiled my drawers like most others here)? Its on a renowned label, its a cover (always attractive) of a GREAT song (even more attractive) and there are a ton of reggae heads on here. How has this not been put on like 700 mixes or something?
Evidence that there is always more good music out there to be unearthed.

i recently took a chance on an ebay auction simply titled "600 soul 45s in detroit" with no list of artists/titles. the first few i looked at were absolute shit, mixed in with some common northern soul until i pulled...
my biggest find yet, and the $50 price was right
Soul Incorporated is worth in excess of 2K innit?
it's an ok tune & all, but still...
Haha. Oh man, I was thinking about putting a $100 bid on that very auction, just on the strength. Then my roommate told me he'd met the seller recently at a local bar, and that the dude was a total asshole, so I decided against it. Oops. Congrats, Froz, whoever you are.
