Thanks for this.....great stuff.......I don't think people really understood the humor aspect and it was great to hear it from the horses mouth....nothing sells better than hate and guilt!

Very insightful. The last I heard he was in jail. Is that true?

I believe he is out now. I think he went in shortly after this interview.

He is still great to see live.

From the Gil Scott-Heron Message Board, Dec 9, 2005:

It has been confirmed that Gil has indeed been located by New York law enforcement agents and is being held without bail on several violations.

According to my sources (hmmm, sounds like H2oGATE), he was taken into custody on December 8 2005 in the early hours of the morning. Details of the arrest have not been made public as of this writing.

I am hoping, like I know some of you are, that they place Gil in an effective drug treatment program. But ultimately, like Gil said, "...you gotta to be Willing."

I am relieved that he is off the streets and at least confined to a "safe" environment. Hopefully his new family will recognize the importance of him and do what they can to help right his life. I know that I will do all that I can to ensure that he does not fade away into the abyss.

As more information becomes available, myself and others will post it here.

    Peace,
    Malcolm

Makes me think of the Richard Pryor story when he heard his own death announced on the evening news.

  • When he gets out i am gonna give him a new hat...
