I used to have a bunch of Mellotron samples, on a zip that died (i wrongly thought they were backed up). If anyone could hook me up that would be great, i know there used to be a few sets on the net but they all seem to have been bought by soft synth companies. I need that strawberry feilds goodness for a theatre peice im scoring. Its a "profit share" so theres a good chance i'll make nada on it, hence not wanting to outlay a bill for some samples.thanks

mmmmmm...mellotronnnnnnnnnnnn.....
personally i think they sound like shite... i think the key to the melotron was the wobliness of the pitch.. so you needed to ride the pitch nob on the actual melotron, or varispeed the track to get the melllotron into tune with the rest of the song...
whereas a digital sample of it doesnt have that same character at all.. ditto the chamberlain.
Sounds pretty cool if you use it in vintage mode but damn expensive
damn those soundclips really sucked tho... seems like they somehow managed to miss the whole point of why people like the mellotron in the first place.
im using the cd mellotron released themselves. i can hook you up bobbydee if you got a decent internet connection.
http://www.mellotron.com/cdlist.htm
the sounds are from restored machines, not from the tape masters, and each sound comes in two presets... one thats straight of the mellotron, and another one thats tuned.
i got my mellotron samples from there.. and yeah they do sound like shite.
Whoops, that wasnt even the site I showed to you a week ago.
