I??ll play for once. Had my best week-end here at San Francisco so far. Nothing super rare but everything was cheap:
LP's
Deodato: Prelude
- listening to this CTI nonraer right now, and it actually sounds pretty good after a long time not hearing it
Bobby Caldwell: S/T (Clouds)
Gabor Szabo: Magical Connection (Blue Thumb)
Linval Thompson: Look How Me Sexy (Greensleeves) - a very nice early 80's reggae album, Roots Radics backing up
The Hill That's Real: S/T (4th Bway) - I feel so connected to the streets when listening to this
12"'s
Clipse: The Funeral (WEA/Test Pressing) - I like it. Was this produced by the Neptunes like most of their other stuff?
Karriem: I Love You (Pashlo) - I remember someone posting this last week. Really dope modern soul from Oakland, with about the nicest cover I have ever seen on a 12"
George Duke: Straight from the heart/Pluck (Epic) promo - No, not the rare Duke 12" but "Straight from the heart" is a really good soul tune
Aretha Franklin: Get it Right (Arista) - produced by Mr. Vandross and a solid early 80's boogie tune
Notorious B.I.G.: Sky's the limit/Kick in the door/ Going back to Cali (Bad Boy promo)
7"'s
Hudson County: Heaven's here on earth/ Welcome to my dream (RCA)
Barbara Brown: Can't Find no Happiness/A Great Big Thing (ATCO)
Smokey Johnson: I Can't help it Pt.1/2 (NOLA) - Wasn't this guy involved with Eddie Bo somehow? A nice R&B workout with them lovely New Orleans rhythms
Sonny Stitt & Paul Gonzalves: Salt & Pepper Pt.1/2 (Impulse) - I absolutely love finding stuff like this! Some more hardbop Impulse 45's for me please
i also copped Eastern sounds this weekend. really the only good record i got
its a gospel record. i believe outta cali. some accapella, some with some real mellow instrument backing some nice rhodes work on this i dont usually give this info out... but i copped it with sampling intentions. a lil project im workin on at the moment
and i have been on the lookout for that dynamics on cotillion as well anyone have that? could someone post some audio of it?
and nice find on that burning of atlanta... another one on the want list. my boy found 2 copies out here. i wish hed let one go to me anyone got a spare? are they really that hard to come by?
Karriem: I Love You (Pashlo) - I remember someone posting this last week. Really dope modern soul from Oakland, with about the nicest cover I have ever seen on a 12"
I dig that record a lot too. Copped mine at Funky Riddms (RIP) for $2 a couple years ago. It seems like it's getting a little better known lately.

Does anyone have audio on that Steve Marshall? He played flute on Steve Parks' "Still thinking of you" right?
gee there should be audio of that somewhere. do a search, might turn something up. yeah, steve marshall is a flute player. look for his solo lp(((rare))) shit is hotness. my bwoy did a fine edit of the title tune "do what you will" check it on www.milliondollardisco.com under the mix section, look for the drunk, too drunk to mix. he took out the odd queen-esque verses and layered up the killer. damn fine edit.
good work on that karreim. hard to comeby, sells for about $50. wish the tune was as good as the 12" jacket!!
I love this album. It makes me feel like I'm floating in Teletubby land eating marshmallows right off the marshmallow tree. Oh look! There goes a chocolate butterfly!
New Romantique "shy like an angel" (Fellow Music 12") Klapto "mister game" (teldec 12") Pratt & Mcclain "happy days" Lp with "whachersign" Positive K "step up front" (First Prio. 12") Man Friday & Jive Junior "picking up sounds" (Malaco 12") Eugene "livin' in your love" (Thick 12") Merit Hemmingsson "huuva - folkmusik p?? beat" (Ok not a rare one but very very good..)
+ some strange 80s dance stuff i never had heard before including some swedish boogie 12" that was quite good..
++ some duplicates like Patto "black & white", Deja "you and me tonight" et.c. just good cheapies..
Louis Hayes- Variety is the Spice Kool + the Gang- Wild & Peaceful Marvin Gaye- Here my Dear (super clean upgrade copy) Donny Hathaway- Lord Help me 45 (not raer but damn good)
Raw Sienna - Savoy Brown Inside Out - Eddie Henderson More Sorcery - Gabor Szabo Cosmic Music - John and Alice Coltrane Coltrane Plays Chim Chim Cherie, Nature Boy, etc. - John Coltrane Dear John C. - Elvin Jones 2nd LP - Suicide Audion - Synergy Remember - Doll By Doll Nightinggale - Gilberto Gil The Way I Feel - Leonard Nimoy My Music is Hot - Lalomie Washburn
plus a handful of nice UK-press classical LPS from the late 50s.
This is a nice late-70s Haitian Compas LP out of NYC with a couple of extended jammin tracks that border on really groovy. Title track is on a mix I did for Waxing Deep last March or April.

Many mo. Yay record show! No strutters, you all are batches.
I was fairly compensated for the loss with a copy of Air on Embryo for $1.99 at the Salvation Army this morning.
Did you get my PM?
JP-Hakuna Matata, at least you have an excuse. Some dudes just didn't come and are local. Maybe they don't heart records as much as I do.
