Who do you like more? Not a "who is greater" question, because that would go in circles and is pointless.I think most people here will pick the beatles, But I'm an ELVIS man, through and through.

when you get to fundamental diffrences between people this is what you are left with, its not about race, politics, religion...

I think it's highly dependent on what side your parents were on but for me it's The Beatles all the way.

    Beatles. Totally.

But I also can get down to that 68 Elvis schitt.

  • In the outtakes of Pulp Fiction there's a scene where Travolta and Uma are talking about how you're either a "Beatles man or an Elvis man" and how you can like both, but everyone likes one more, and who that is defines you. That's why when they go to Jackrabbit Slim's she says "An Elvis man would love it."

guess that makes me a Beatles man, then.

i love me some Elvis, but after he got out of the Army he lost direction something terrible. i know some of y'all are tired of hearing that, but it's true.

Not a really a contest--Elvis's early Sun sessions were great, but that's only a relative handful of tracks.

Beatles, by contrast, have an incredible catalog of full albums.

See, I thought about this too. not even a quality vs. quanity issue, but a quantity of quality... wait... did that make sense? In that sense the beatles win, but I guess in the end, if I had the choice tonight to sit and listen to an hour of each's best music (subjective, but still), I would pick an hour of Elvis over and hour of the Beatles.

Maybe just a gut reaction. I react more to Elvis.... haha

Not on a nitpick level, but I gotta say that his first album right after
getting out of the Army, Elvis is Back, is one of my favorites,
and one of his best IMO. The material is mostly strong and he is still
at least genuinely trying to sing like a rhythm & blues artist.

Also, His Hand In Mine, the gospel album from around the same time, is excellent as well.

  • Both equally overrated.

Go back and listen to Heartbreak Hotel very carefully. Then ask yourself if you could have done that. The answer is probably no.

Yeah, thanks for reminding me - I've heard some good things about that album, and I get the drift that this LP is basically his last stand as a rocker before the movies and then Vegas kicked in.
