HAH! ^^^ = me sitting in 80s minimal chair with bare chest, LOL
^^^ Thanks, you're spot on with the correction.
got some of these OGs
escape lo 93s
and this OG from ebay
two last ones for 05: a little jazzfunk and a little soulfunk!
probably one of the nicest innercity lps ive come across, harold danko quintet, late 70??s cover look can be misleading but the session is from 75 and sounds good. picure of danko playin steinway on cover, he actually plays rhodes throughout except for one track, the music is mostly warm spiritual jazz(funk) with the cut intensity as a high point imo.
and then south side movements i think first s/t album (1973), looking at the label pretty sure this is a second pressing not the black and white wand label but the later blury one...
this is classic soulfunk, in noticed that the last cut mud wind is pre disco. everlasting thrill has the same inst riff as a al green (hi) song.
i' been watchin' you has a dope bassline ive heard sampled before somewhere.
imout for 05.
peace and happy/ safe newyears to ALL !
nice one, that LP hasn't turned up for me, got the scorpio 'reissue'. The title track is an underrated (re: cheep!) 45, nice funky groover with a salsa/boogaloo breakdown towards the end. Found a bunch of copies in Eddie's 3-Way in Nahlins (RIP) in the spring.
$??
I see that you are "a little bit country"
nice
the country happened to be ontop
I will post list laterz
but secretly I am a tiny bit country funk folk rock blues mellow burn
hi
That record rules.
I stole his Christmas Wreath once
-Supremes- A Go Go
-10 or so covers that i picked up at Recordsurplus, including JB 'payback', cymande, etc.
-parking ticket
First 3 are minty sealed....
thrift finds--25 cents-50 cents each!
bottom row is all tv babies records. they were a post-punk/new wave band from nyc in the early 80s. i already have a copy of the 'rock around the corporations' lp--but this one is sealed. also--the 12" is still sealed.
that adult comedy record is my 2nd copy of it. i originally tried to put one up on ebay and it was taken down by the ebay police. so now i have to put 2 of them up--censored this time!
the record on the middle row-right is some 20th century composer lp (persichetti/creston)--got the lp because of the excellent ben shahn artwork (that same painting is in the MoMA)--ben shahn is one of my faves. i like the lp too--esp the persichetti side.
that one above is a private press 5x 78 rpm record set of hillbilly-western gospel recordings from the mcspaddens of lubbock, texas.
can't find any info on that one at all. they aren't acetates--but it looks to have been self-released. 78 labels have pictures of themselves on it.
i just e-mailed kevin nutt from WFMU's 'sinners crossroads' to see if knows anything about it--or knows someone who might.
i've never seen anything like that one before. in fact--outside of homemade acetates--i've never seen any private/vanity 78s before ever. and especially not a whole set like that. weird.
and the music--think border radio western hillbilly gospel. it's pretty good.
Here are a few nice ones from this weekend (average price paid...$3-$5 ):
The 12" is Doug E. Fresh "The Show". Daughters of Albion =
I found a copy of that recently for a quarter... didn't sound that great to me???
Make a copy for the car and give it a few listens...extremely creative pop album with no filler.
seriously.
dakar, you're in la in right? wtf ? never found shit like that at thrifts there.
it's weird i seem to be finding the same records as a lot of strutters. just found that southside movement.
you wouldn't happen to be blackhole records on ebay would you ?
just curious. noticed one of those southside movements for sale on ebay sealed with the same cut corner and the same wood floor under it.
