4 note polyphony and no sequencer

But... you can still get away with quite a bit if you have the means to overdub. And what it CAN do more than makes up for those things. I'm very happy with mine and I haven't even scratched the surface of what it can do (cause the asshole I bought it from still hasn't given me the manual ).

i was just about to buy one myself but after playing with the alesis micron i decided to go with the micron. the sounds and what it could do blew me away..especially for the price. check this review.

  • it's polyphonic (as pointed out) but only for some patches, and not others. it sounds pretty good and is very portable, overall i would say, it's a solid buy. high points - there are some very good patches that you can modify quite a bit and the basic sounds are solid- the vocoder is nice too.. you can run voice or any other sound through it (ie. samples) - you can also midi this thing up for the mpc/computers etc.. but it really depends on what he/she would be using it for... there might be better alternatives for a studio set up.. the thing that makes it great is the price- you can't find too many things that can do all of the things that this does for the price.. good luck

It's only got 37 keys (which are mini-size) .... if you want to get real with chording you might want to invest in something a little more serious.

The micro is a fun toy. It's good for the money. Better for synth leads and basslines than anything IMO.

the vocoder isnt as good..and the layout isnt as visually gratifying but the alesis still seems like a better deal overall. but i guess its all apples and oranges.

are there second opinions on the alesis?? maybe im just skepticle of alesis but i like to stick with the classics.

ive messed with the mikrokorg and i definalty want to get one.. namely cause my wife doesnt dig the interface on the roland.

but that alesis does look good on paper.
