  • Rare Earth. Pete Riviera-Hoorelbeke had a voice that was hella distinctive.

I can't say why, but AWB never really meant much to me. They were just...weak.

although AWB had 'by-the-book' funk down pat (plus a few classic steppers), rare earth's norman whitfield connection puts them on top. "i just want to celebrate" makes me stomp no matter when or where.

    apples and oranges IMO...

Average White Boobies vs Tower of Pussies would be a better match up

Rare Earth was too for bands like AWB/TOP

As would Rare Earth vs. the Flaming Ember.

I was actually thinking that all along, but I was wondering how many of y'all would get the reference (even though the Flaming Ember had hit singles, they didn't last as long as Rare Earth, AWB or TOP).

"1200 Miles From Heaven" is my jam... also, their blue eyed soul stuff on Ric Tic like "hey mama, what you got good for daddy" is dope... rare earth rocks harder, but flamimg ember are better singers, i think...
