i started college at gwu, where i hated on all my friends who joined frats.

    when were you at gwu?

    i heard schnipper rushed SAE.

99-01. i thought you went there because i notice there's a gwu server that hosts cocaine blunts. i was killin it at wrgw but i think it was impossible to listen to that station because they had no bandwidth or sumpin.

also worked at jamba juice for about 3 days... those were the days

it sounds like i just missed you at wrgw. i started doing a show there as a freshman in fall '01 but didn't get involved to the point where i was actually talking to people until about a year later. you know M*k* S***ls and J**red and them then?

where'd you live in thurston? i was in 917

about the server, i don't know how long that'll last.

  • The frats at GW seemed lame by any standards when I was there.

that must've been before schnipper joined.

j/k, yeah compared to other schools i've seen, the frats at gwu were miserable and only getting worse as i was leaving. good enough to steal beers from though.

Actually when I left it seemed like they were going to ban frats anyway. When did you graduate?

  • im not a greek.

but...from djing for a gang of different greeksets here at va tech and elsewhere, it seems to me that there is a BIG difference b/w PHC&IFC organizations and NPHC organizations (read predominately-white frats and sororities & predominately-black frats and sororities).

maybe its b/c ive been programmed...

white frats/sororities don't have hand signs or party-hops but i'd venture to say it's a little deeper than that too. from what i understand, nphc = for life and phc/ifc = til you stop paying dues.

didn't know mike, shirls, or jurred. from what i could tell, there were a few punk rokkers who were tight at the station and everyone else just did their own thing.
as for me, after i realized i was being really crazy and broadcasting to an audience of 0 twice a week every week, i just started rapping along to a lot of uncensored 2 live crew and whatnot records, and talking about my personal life, just to see if anyone was listening.

i ran into my dad at a strip club this weekend. it was kind of awkward. if this has or has not ever happened to you, be the first to call in and you'll be the grand prize winner of 20 bucks and handfuls of cd's. seriously. i'll get up and deliver them to you personally right now. call 202 640(?) wrgw...

    no one calls

9th floor that's whats up. i'm trying to put a number to a room, but i'd say there's about a 75% chance that i smoked herb in your bathroom on more than a few occasions.

yeah that's what it was like for the first year i was there as well. it was a matter of me and a couple friends rolling up there on a saturday afternoon like "how do we get a show?" and some dude was just like "you can go on at 2, come back next week as well". so we'd just dick around and talk while records were playing or sing along to curtis mayfield and shit. odds are the only listeners were cohosts who were too hung over to make it to the studio that day, and we catered exclusively to that audience.

for the second year they got all organized (thanks to dudes like mike and "jurred", who, had the best intentions, but their successors got out of hand). our show got split up into two - half of us went to a "hip hop" timeslot and the other half went to "rock". there were all these meetings, forms to fill out and guidelines to memorize and a lot of people i had never met before started giving me lectures when we didn't play the right station ids or we played "blow job betty". keep in mind that nobody was listening either way. i guess dudes needed an aura of professionalism to legitimize their involvement in a purely resume building extra curricular venture (most of the "administration" there doesn't even like music).

getting back to the subject at hand and bringing this full circle a gw alum once accused me of "bringing the frat boy mentality to wrgw" on her blog when i said talib kweli rapped like a girl on cocaineblunts.com. [color:white]i was kind of flattered/FONT>

The Lambda frat house is right next door to my Grandmother's house in Tucson. The scene where the gay guy knocks on some dude's door is her house. Supposedly she has one of the trikes from the olympics scene. I am heading that way next week so I'll give booger a holler for y'all.

    I Cananda, frats are

It's a $300 friend club with shitty parties and girls who lack intelligence. But man, they look fly up in the hot-tub. I like running up in their party and talkin' weird shit.

Yo, did you know Danny Glover killed the predator? And man! How hard is Jay-Z's "Where I'm From"? Much harder than the Digable version! You put tobasco in this beer? Rith hurrrrrr

sounds like wrgw stepped their game up... kinda. actually this reminds me a lot of kalx. the beauracracy sucks, but at least u learn how a semi-legit radio station is run. i ended up getting kick off/kicking myself off right before i graduated by getting belligerent with my frat buddies on air.

yo, he DOES kinda rap like a girl. HAHA

the soundtrack lp is that track is free of the rap, much to my dismay.

I was in 717 my freshman year. that dorm room was godawful. 4 people were not supposed to fit in that room.

We were the anti-fraternity. No kacki pants or ties, just alcohol and hard drugs for us.

I should mention that we are no longer on campus if that tells you anything.

It's really what you make of it. I learned a lot. Dealing with an organization and people who you don't have much in common with or don't like and gettting them to all work as a group.

I'm actually getting together with some of the old guys this weekend for Homecoming.
