I've got a similair situation, but with Spray Glue residue (3M "77"). I accidentally got that shit all over one of my records. [fall out from being up against a wall I was sticking studio foam tiles too. Nope, wasn't in it's jacket.]
Nonetheless, I tried cleaning it with water & record cleaner solution but the record still plays with *lots* of crackle & pop, pretty much unplayable, which sucks as it' was gift from a family member from a long time ago.
Think the Lighter Fluid trick may fix it?
I was actually about to try the paint thinner thing, but am hesitant that shit may really fuck it up more.

Co-sign. Lighter fluid is the shit when Value Village scrawls prices in crayon all over LP covers and vintage sneaks.
