Odetta is cool, for a folk artist. But...a SOUL singer???

  • I??ll see that Marcia LP and raise with:

  • i've been REALLY getting into Alice Clark's LP on Mainstream. godDAMN that thing is good. i've been flossing my reissue copy like aahhhhhhh

  • Barbara Acklin "Love Makes a Woman" classic......and some of her other lps are great too. Definitely worth putting up among the best.

Linda Lewis......but maybe she's too folky, but she made some nice albums too for reprise.

Minnie Riperton's "Perfect Angel" should be up too with "adventures in paradise" that's already been mentioned.

THat's not really an album, but a collection of 45's. Boom tunes.

In contrast to the Marcia LP which is an album concept, the Phyllis Dillon is a compilation of tracks/45's she made a decade earlier at Treasure Isle. Amazing body of work, nonetheless, but if we're getting into female soul 45's this thing could blow up.

Realer Head Know The Deal, K.

  • Point taken, but I based the "raise" solely ont the fact that it also was from yard. Also, I believe the title of the thread was "best female soul LP's you've ever heard" not "best female soul concept album you've ever heard".

    Regards from a lesser head.

(Also i??m quite biased against Marcia after seeing a mediocre performence by her in Ocho Rios a couple years ago).
