Fatback's wedding requests

A few weeks from now (in a secret and secure location) my friend and yours Fatback will be tying the knot to (soon to be called) Mrs. Fatback. The Secret Chimp and I will be providing the music for this soiree and I wanted to ask the group what tunes they thought we should play. Fatback's original idea was for us to play only songs found between Washington, DC and the secret and secure location of the wedding but thankfully we talked him out of that. An evening of Andy Williams, Men at Work, Leo Sayer and Firestone Christmas records does not a great wedding make. Requests anyone?

    "Danceable"/Boogie Free Jazz

    couples dance only

  • Garland Green's "Jealous Kind Of Fella"

  • I should add that Fatback's fiancee (or is it finance?) is surprisingly cool, very pleasant and most attractive. There's rumor of a hot sister but Fatback is being pretty tight lipped and since Chimp and I are the hired help we won't be going there.

ouch, does dude have a history of dogs or something?

  • A little sugar, honey suckle lamb
    Great expression of happiness
Boy, you could not miss with a dozen roses
    Such would astound you
The joy of children laughing around you
These are the makings of you
It is true, the makings of you, oh

It's been a miracle for what you've done
Please stay right by my side
Two can be one for the righteous way to go
    Anyone would know
I believe I thought I told you so
    You're second to none

Love of all mankind should reflect some sign
Of the words I'm trying to recite
    They're close, but not quite
    Almost impossible to do
    Describing the makings of you

  • first dance at my wedding this summer was from:

many tunes that would work from that one.

groovy shingaling 45 worked well with the crowd and soul drummer 45.

where's nrich at? he djed the most of the night. A famous dj type played much brazilian at the end, that was a lot of fun too.

I worked with said sister, and she is also cool, attractive, speaks 3 languages and makes her own t-shirts. In fact, she turned me on to soulstrut.

Oh, and she is taken, so you can't go there.

I will also make sure to include, in my toast to Mrs. Fatback and her family, how important it is to also take note of how these two records represent the direct connection between free jazz and hip hop.

Actually that sounds great. Maybe some Mitch Miller and Herb Alpert too!

I think we might go with Sweet Thing as first dance. But it's kinda long.

Just to dig it all an??? not to wonder

    That???s just fine

    And I???ll be satisfied

Not to read in between the lines

And I will walk and talk

In gardens all wet with rain

  • A few years ago I thought Big Daddy Kane's "The Day You're Mine" would be ultamate wedding song, then just last week I heard Chris Montez's "The More I See You" on a local low power FM oldies station.

    i'll send it

Chimp and I are going to press up our own raers just for the wedding and then destroy them Greek style after we play them once.
