    Can you copy/paste the story??

I don't feel comfortable visiting their site at work...

  • Sep 24, 2005 07:44 PMHello,

I just wanted to let you know that, thanks to the "War on Porn," SG will be taking down a bunch of photosets and individual photos today.

Even the FBI agents paid to surf for porn find this ridiculous, but apparently sending people to jail for pictures of two consenting adults enjoying a little rope bondage is more fucking important than.... I dunno, pick any one of the million of better causes out there that the government could be focusing on.

So, I apologise heartily for having to do this, both to the SuicideGirls whose art is being fucked over and the members who are being treated like babies, but we really don't want to get shut down and sent to jail. As soon as legally possible, the photosets and pictures about to be taken down will come back. Until then, bid a fond farewell to your favourite blood-bathing beauties, rope-bound babes, and handcuffed honeys. Apparently they've no place in today's society.

If you want to help stop this stupidity, feel free join SG in donating to the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) and the Free Speech Coalition. If you live in the US, you can also send a letter to your representative in Congress.

im sure the only way they found those pictures was by searching the HISTORY folder on most of the FBI computers...

Exactly. I'm a member of the site, and whle these days I chat with other members through groups and journals more than I look at the pictures, I still enjoy many of the sets as works of art. It's not really masturbation material, so I'm reluctant to even call it porn. The "bondage" pictures and other sets deemed offensive are so ridiculously tame that to think they might be subversive enough to hurt our society is almost like accusing Playboy of printing fetishistic smut.

    THANK YOU PRESIDENT BUSH!

    saying

  • That's such bullshit. SG isn't even hardcore. Still, they don't seem to indicate that they've been given notice but they're a pretty high profile site and probably don't want to deal with the headaches that may occur.

  • My friend works with some adult sites and said they passed this pain in the ass law. Something about gov. is now demanding that every star in an adult production has to have their license on file for access by anyone? He said that if a site wasn't part of some coalition that put an injunction against the law so the companies could keep working, the FBI and can shut them down if they are violating the law... That is the jist of it at least. Maybe Suicide girls isn't part of the coalition?

wait, i'm confused. why is suicide girls being threatened, but not, oh... the MILLIONS of other porno sites on the web? what about SG is illegal?

(it's funny how i know so little about something i care so much about )

It most likely has to do with the injunction and who is involved with it. If you are part of the group that filed the injunction you are covered. If you are in the same industry but not part of the injunction, then you are not covered, ie. under the scrutiny of big brother. Hence the FBI targeting SG rather than say... Hustler.

The US government has provisions to keep you from fantasizing about pale, tattooed, art school chicks.

thanks for answering, but i still feel like
with all the animal DP facial fetish whatever sites out there, how can the feds come down on a group of girls who openly talk about their sexual photos as art?
about the injunction thing, do you think just because www.ilovehorsecock.com* is in the group, they're free from being prosecuted.
this shite just makes me mad.

    * this is a fictional website (i think!), i just made it up.

there was an article (I think posted here) about the new p0rn laws, maybe someone can find it, I can't remember the facts.

  • I think also alot of the adult sites on the net are based outside the US, so not subject to our laws?

An interesting post from an Iraq war vet:[/b]

You know, I just spent the last year and a half in Iraq, fighting for the "rights" of Americans. First off, let's be honest, I wasn't fighting for the freedom of any Americans unless you count the big business one's who just want to carve up the world for their own gain and who do not care who they step on along the way. I also have seen the results of a country ruled by religion. And this is just one more reason to believe that America is moving away from Democracy and closer to a theocracy. First it was homosexuals who our government decided needed to have their sex and love lives "controlled". Laws are made and passed to make it as hard as possible for homosexuals to live their lives, as if this in some way is going to make it go away. Now it's pictures on an internet pay site. What's next? Can I choose? I mean, personally I think Nascar is about fucking stupid (Am it still ok to say fuck??). I mean, if you wanna sit in your living room and watch cars turn left all day, go for it. But I think it is stupid, and I get to make the rules, so bye bye Nascar. Now that I think of it, I'm not really a fan of t.v. either. I just don't watch much of it, so no one else can. T.V. is dangerous, it is making our kids disrespect their parents, and they now no longer attend church, so no t.v. By the way, ever see on the news that in Baghdad there are satellite dishes everywhere? And I mean everywhere. I have honestly seen houses that are half destroyed that have dishes. You know why? Because Saddam filtered what the people were allowed to see and hear. There are still people in Iraq today that believe Saddam and his Army chased the Americans out of Kuwait during the first Gulf war.
Ok, I'll get off my soapbox because I could go on all damn day long. If is the first thing that has happened to make you question what the hell is going on, welcome. We are glad to have you. Now get out there and help it change.

And yes, there are a lot[/b] of satellite dishes over in Iraq.
