got a few things, Gospel Keynotes LP, etc

But this was the major find, VG condition with some light marks, stains and corner scuffs (the large blotches pictured are from fabric cleaner, not stain), straight outta 2002-2001?...

Got both pieces of this set, had to snap a pic and post up. Light wear on the covers but otherwise excellent!

BEST $35 EVAR SPENT. Garage sales RULE.[/b]

The cushions are tipped up to allow for drying. I should throw those cushion covers in the laundry though, damn. The lady who sold it for cheeep is moving to Alaska on Thursday, maybe she can pick up some AK heat for me, lol. Fuk a futon, this proper couch is so next level grown and sexy. I dunno how I got by with my crappy futon for so long.

I think that's the kind of record that has more value for the cover than for the music. You know, the "sexy nude cover" great collectros group. They are out there.
Not that I am one of them, but these people consider every argentinian nude lady cover as , and I'm here to plaese

c'mon, it's not like I'm selling nude little boys on covers
Between turds and dealing record cover pornography I feel I'm taking prestige damage over here.

BTW, nice combination of coffee table and new couches. Scandinavian look. I like that.

    Got these LPs:

Junior Mance - With A Lotta Help From My Friends

    This record rules!!!

Never hear anyone mention it, but it was one of the best records I copped over the summer. Rhythm section like whoa.

    Also, TheMack:

    Roy Ayers-Tear to a Smile

    How'd you like this one?
It's pretty under the radar for an Ayers title, but I picked up a mint copy a couple of weeks ago, and have been playing the shit out of it! I think it's pretty much as good as the really sweated albums from the same time, like Coffy, He's Coming, etc...surprised you don't hear about it more often...that piano run in "2000 Black" is fire!

  • INDIANAPOLIS[/b]

made some $$$, and before any y'all could get in, I was looking thru some 45s.

Gloria Walker and the Chevelles - You Hit the Spot Babe (Flaming Arrow) ($3) EX
James Brown - Funky Drummer (King) ($3) NM
Hank Ballard - I'm a Junkie for my Babie's Love (Chess) ($3) MINT! - DOUBLE! (other is a netherlands press though???? different intro)

Rufus Thomas - Do the Funky Penguin (Stax) ($2) EX (quadruple)
The Dapps - There Was a Time (King) ($3) VG

***Damn, listing finds is too much typing. I just get all excited when I find great 45s that I love, and for great prices, all in one spot. Anyhow, I will continue with pictures.***

It's a nice feeling to walk home with some keepers. Gloria Walker will be played at every single function I ever DJ in my life. EVER

PEACE to all the folks in Indianapolis. It was truly great getting to meet these folks, and to be further aquainted with Scott and Paren. Y'all are some good dudes. And despite the claims of Serato fucking up, it was nice to see some live blends and an entertaining set done at a bar.

    ha ha,

No it's not $1400 clean. Unboxed Decca. I am definitely selling this, though. That Jameson album is pretty raw, too.

Soul On Ice, you're in MA like me, right?

Soul On Ice, you're in MA like me, right?

    You pulled that in MA?

    "Impresive"[/b]

Yes, I'm in Boston. At least you & I are helping to destroy the myth that there are "no records in Boston." Or are you in Western MA? I know there are serious heat pockets out there...

  • lambertlambert 1,166 Posts
I don't even go to Boston anymore. I can't even look at Looney Tunes w/out getting sick. $20 for a Bunny Sigler 7 in the under-lock-and-key "Funk" 45 box behind the counter which is by request only. Get the fuck out of here with that!

  • SoulOnIceSoulOnIce 13,027 Posts
I've been pulling heat outta there lately, they made a couple of huge soul buys. They are one of those stores where it seems everything is $15...the thing is, just like they are ridiculously overcharging for J5 LP's at $15, but then I pulled a Fatback Band "Let's Do It Again" OG for $15 out of there last week, and that's a damn good price for that album. I've been getting hooked up with "sneak previews" there, too, which helps. The only Boston spot worth looking for 45's in is In Your Ear on Comm Ave, or Skippy's if you know someone that works there, and won't get charged insane prices.

  • lambertlambert 1,166 Posts
or Skippy's if you know someone that works there

    Ha!!

I got quoted a $1000 promise just to get in the basement. By appointment only. Whatever. it's his store, what am I gonna say? Yeah, you have to live in the city to come up consistently. Me? I'm a tourist to most places there.

Are there any good funk nights you would recommend? You can let me know via pm, if you want. I'd appreciate it.

I gotta chime out for the night though.
    thanks.

Yeah, I haven't listened to it yet and had never really heard of it, but the names definitely caught my eye, I thought it was a repress but it's actually the original UK press which is cool. About 6 months ago I grabbed that Jack Marshall/Shelley Manne "Sounds" LP you posted, it's kinda cool & quirky in places, not a bad listen.

Also forgot to post this before but at the same flea market stall I got an original Santa Cruz Streets Of Fire Video that plays perfect, stoked.
