The Great Collectro is not necessarily rich. Or a kid.

Many a Great Collectro still lives with his mother at the age of forty, dines on ramen noodles, can't afford to visit the barber shop, wears hand-me-down coke bottle lens glasses and buys his jeans off of the women's rack at the thrift store.

Haven't you ever been to a record show?

    I resent that.

Fuck that, ok i wasn't there buying those records in 88/89 but only because I was 8 years old at the time. I going diggin for hip hop records from all eras and drop loot on the ones that have i just haven't come across despite endlessly searching for em and I ain't no fucking rich kid either, i work hard for my $$$. Added to that I'm in a part of the world where the rarer indy titles never really reached.

I think you spelled "ingenue" wrong.

I don't really know what you were trying to say, but it makes me uncomfortable when you call me that.

Why not? I at least bought tapes.

Had to scrimp and save that change, homes.

    off-topic:

why is it called random rap... what's random about it.

To me it's another one of those generic terms that fail in their description (much like "moder(n) soul")...

is it only for those "real headz that know the deal"...

    wtf?!

I know nothing of this... please to school me.

p.s. no, I obviusly did not grow up listening to this.

    D. Tompkins and Chairman Mao started using it to refer to this or that randomly obscure yet dopeasfuck golden era rap track and it became the name of a column written by Mao and Tompkins in the world's most slept on/poorly marketed music mag, Grandslam (RIP), progeny of Big Daddy (RIP)

    Here are the subjects:
Lord Shafiyq - My Mic Is On Fire
Top Choice Clique - Peace Of Mind
    Makeba & Scratch - I can't Stand It/Make It Funky
Phill Most - That Girl/On Tempo Jack
    Caz - You Need Stitches
TDS Mob - Dope For The Folks
" - What This World Is Coming To

Since there were only four issues of Grandslam, this is the official list, there are no more, and everyone else is just imitatin'
