in other words. If you could only buy (and listen) to records made during a certain year only, which would it be? Any genres are allowed, just as long it was recorded within that chosen year.

  • I would buy records with car engine sounds from the first half of 1974. Well, maybe up til May '74. A golden time. Vroooooom.

    Otherwise, music wise, 1967.

Definately 60,000 BP. This is right at the point where Neanderthal Men and Homo Sapiens could potentially interact with one another.

    I'd buy EVERY hip-hop/rap record from 1988.

1988 was my favorite year for records!

Just a few of the classics from 1988 folls.... Feel free to add on to the 1988 list.

    Hey,

1970 or 1971. Honorable mention years: 1968-69, 1972-75, 1977-1980. There were some great records throughout these periods (don't sleep on the late 70's fellas!!!). While ya'll were eatin' pablum (sp?), the Stacks was groovin'!!!!

    Peace,

  • 1966 - everything was coming to a head that year; garage-rock, Motown, southern soul, the first stirrings of psych and salsa, country, folk-rock, amen.

1972 comes dead close, 'cause soul was in a heyday that year.

  • I was going to go with '69 but....

But '89 was more influential year for me personally.
