dvd hook-up solutions/broken vcr's?

my dvd player is new, my tv is from 1996 and only has a coaxial out. radio shack wants $40 for a coaxial to rca converter and I'm like fuck that, you're not recouping your howie long money on me.the plan right now is to run them both through a vcr and do it that way. so anyone in nyc got a vcr that don't play tapes anymore they want to get rid of?(also acceptable: other solutions to the problem)

ya going through a vcr is the way to go, you should be able to find even a new one for like 20 bones....

Get a VCR at your local thrift store. I have seen them at the goodwill for around 10 bucks.

It's called an RF Modulator. A VCR might not work if the DVD is encodded with Macrovision.
