Off The Wall vs. Thriller = Revolver vs. Sgt. Pepper?

'Revolver' wins that battle hands down; OTW vs Thriller is nowhere near as clear cut. (Now if Sgt. Pepper would've included the "Strawberry Fields"/"Penny Lane" single as originally intended...then we're closer in comparison to the MJ argument.)

    I've never heard this.

To me, it's either Revolver vs. Rubber Soul or Sgt. Pepper vs. Magical Mystery Tour.

I've heard of the Revolver V Sgt. Pepper opposition many times. It makes sense since Revolver was the their first psychedelic LP whilst Rubber Soul was their last pre-psychedelic LP. Stg Pepper V Magical Mystery tour doesn't make much sense to me either because the latter is so oft recognized, rightly so IMO, as one their poorest efforts, that there's no contest. Revolver. Harder call for the Jackson LPs.

IMO, this album was the rare anomaly, and Thriller was the phenomenon. POP music didn't even know what hit them.

SEAWIND, some middle age white guy jazz fusion group of Hawaii doing disco cuts.

An incredibly sensitive former Motown child star / upcoming actor who's voice just dropped that just finally legally broke away from his family contractually.

YES. "The Girl is Mine" is the eternal "hurry up and lift the needle before it begins" song.

  • "clapless" Rock With You?

  • Greetings!
Glad to be apart of this blog. This is a monumental album in my life. From childhood to adult life, I was raised on it. Even though some songs get on my nerves now, it's one of those things you can play and not have to worry about changing ANYTHING. Rod Temperton WROTE his BUTT off..

I have no idea what the image to MJ's left was.   But if I was going to recreate it today...

That link did not work for me…

But thank for the video links, guys. The Griffith Observatory / James Dean alt cover shot was interesting.

Funny, the area around The Grove was a frequent hang out for me when I lived in LA. I never knew about the location…

The question regarding the image remains unresolved, it seems, and it appears to have been added in post anyway as there is not enough space to hang anything in that corner of the real wall, I think.

You have to add the "(image)" to that url to get it to work.  Look familiar?

The other one I thought of was Magritte's 'Son of Man"
