Share a mix you've made with the current massive. Doesn't matter if you posted it here before. Back to School means more time for daytripping.

I listened to the dub mix driving around tonight. Good stuff. I needed something to wind down to this evening after work.

Here's an old one I recorded live at a weekly I used to have 15 years ago.

  • Here is one I made for the Chicago Bike Winter Art Show. https://soundcloud.com/soundoutloud/blue-doppler

The concept is a winter bike ride through the city. Its part original music, part recorded music(about bikes), part urban field recording...

Loved this.  I recognized many of the songs, and they were usually favs.  And several of the ones I didn't know had me reaching for teh Shazam.

  • I keep meaning to say, all these mixes are appreciated and when I get my shit together I'll post up several of mine!

I keep saying I need to record more mixes but I never take the time to do it.

Yeah, I’ve got several on-the-go but not finished:

    a deep dubstep one

    a nü jungle mix

an oldskool ragga jungle and reggae assortments mix

    a hip-hop beats type mix

    a retired raver mix

    a blazing downtempo mix

    a deep house/techno mix

Finishing shit is not my strong-point as I keep getting distracted with attempts at home-production. I do have a 3.5 hour ‘60s-early ‘70s rock mix, but not the space on SoundCloud to upload it.

Actually, I've got a question. One of the hardest things I find is leaving stuff out because through habit I'm usually trying to make mixes short enough to fit on a CD. Is anyone using CDs anymore? Lots of cars have USB now, everyone seems to have some kind of digital media player... so is the 78 minutes format obsolete (or not necessary)?

  • I aim for 60 minutes, or 60 and change. I guess the idea being a) it's a good length for me to actually finish it and b) homage to my old D60 cassettes as a kid. I've certainly enjoyed very long mixes in the past but 1-1.5 hours is the sweet spot and the CD length is as good an arbitrary length as cassette lengths once you're digital.

CD length is good only because people have short attention spans.

  • Oddly enough Dj Hopper of this parish did a kids breaks mix a year or two ago!
    https://www.mixcloud.com/rcwinkly/tempo-for-tots-a-childrens-funk-mix/

Might be interesting to compare. I enjoyed it at the time and am digging yours right now. Also, nothing wrong with extended pease porridge juggling! I heard a guy on the radio back in the day live cutting the breakestra sexy coffee pot for like 20 minutes and kinda appreciated his tenacity.

I haven't made a mix in forever. I've pretty much given up on Djing at this point in my life, but I made this little set if you're interested at all.

Just realized that I didn't share anything.  Also just realized that I had uploaded the entirely wrong mix for this on SC a while back - lol.  So I may have tried to share this in the past but, whoops!
