OK, so were's the best website for streaming movies? I missed popcorn before it was closed-for-business, what's the new good one?

    You mean illegal like? I haven't used any in a while, i tend to stick to torrents or mega. If I just want something random, like if I'm laid up sick I'll checkout http://vaughnlive.tv/ misc section. It's just a constant stream of various movies, so it's a lucky dip.

    Torrents are easy. you just download this www.utorrent.com/, set a download folder. then go on here http://rarbg.com/ find the movie you want & click the little magnet button. Leave it to download.

    Mega.nz is the latest version of megaupload. You can search for stuff on it here - http://megasearch.co/. I mainly use it for tv tho, from here http://tuserie.com/

    Hmmm. Looking at rarbg, is there a way to tell if an uploader is trusted? A feedback system to avoid viruses etc?

    Get a FireTV stick and sideload Kodi, then youtube instructions to throw in Add Ons, it is a game changer

    Generally you wont get anything like that from a film download, only if you're downloading pirated software. The comments section can be helpful, people will rate the quality, mention any issues etc. Kat.cr is a similar site, with a more active (commenting) community. Generally you just want to find the copy of the movie, in the quality you want - SD 720, 1080 etc - then just download the one with the most seeds. Generally a movie should come in a video file format .avi .mpeg .mkv .mov etc. if they're .rar I'd generally avoid them, .exe or anything that looks like program, never click on. Torrenting movies is pretty virus free, unlike streaming, but a decent virus software should detect anything dodgy anyway. The only thing you need to be cautious of is getting got by the anti piracy people, but the chances of that are very low.

    just watched a couple of vids last night...is it hard to keep up with the add on/channels?  do they change a lot?  Is it a pain to keep maintaining the add ons?

    @undertheradar I have been using it for about 3 months now with no issues, and adding new add ons regularly just to play around. I primarily use USTVNOW, Pheonix and Genesis; and have had good luck with live sports and movie/TV streaming. I don't think much maintenance is involved ongoing other then keeping the apps (Kodi, etc) up to date. You do just have to go into any viewing session with a level of patience as it may take a try or two to get a solid feed running.

    If you go the FireTV stick route there is an app called 'Firestarter' that lets you install Kodi over wifi and keep it updated without having to use a computer.

    I used to have XBMC on a RaspberryPi, but since running hdmi direct from my computer to the tv, it's become pretty redundant. My tv has PLEX installed on it as well, but I don't use that either. The only thing I really miss about them is the library function. Scrolling through a folder full of movie files is nowhere near as satisfying as browsing a proper library interface. I'd pay good money for Kodi/Plex that was just a library viewer connected to your player of choice.

    you can still drag torrent files into popcorn time and use it strictly as a streaming platform, they're just not going to be aggregating the best ones for you anymore.

    It isn't too difficult.  So many how-to's out there.  

    Genesis is a GREAT add on to use for movies.  It's essentially as robust as hbo-go, netflix, amazon prime and hulu combined.  

    Sometimes you get some shit quality resolution but most of it is spot on.

    Holy crap it works! And... I haven't been bumrushed by the NSA and my laptop didn't explode with viruses. Does anyone else know about utorrents?

    My workflow:

    Dedicated iMac that I connect to using LogMeIn > Pirate Bay > Utorrent > Stream to Apple TV using Beamer
