    Yeah, such a great voice. His version of red clay was one of the first "rare grooves" that really blew my mind BITD.

    this one really hurts. mark was one of my heroes. his career, impact and influence cannot be reduced to a few break or funkyish tracks, etc...in particular, all of his muse are basically master class in singing, taste.

    My friend studied with mark some years back and he tells me that mark was both wide open about his homosexuality and his sense that he never received his proper due. younger guys like kurt elling ripped him off wholesale. I will write more later, I am truly at a loss right now.
