Not very encouraged that Sakho wasn't even on the bench. On his way out?

I do hope not. I'd like to think Rodgers has learnt a few lessons, particularly concerning the depth of his squad, following a close-season in which he was very lucky not to spend most of his time brushing up his CV.
It wasn't a great game. Stoke away is rarely about good football, and there's a touch of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" about Hughes' arrival. After the way we ended last season, though, the result was tremendous.

LOL-igans. The "who are ya?" chants are particularly desperate.
What else to add about the storied, generations-old, deep-rooted rivalry between a club founded in 2013 and another founded in 2006? Now we know who went to see Green Street 2, or indeed why Green Street 3 was even made to begin with.
Gotta cede bragging rights to the Red Bulls on that one. IIRC they actually go waaaay back before 2006, to when they were know as the Metro Stars. In 1995.
Football. Ehh (how many exclamation marks connotes disgruntled ambivalence?) I think this season could be very tight. Lots of teams in the middle of the table improving, Stoke are signing ex Barca players. The world has entered a strange new phase.
So.. Jeremy Corbyn. What does the britstrut brain trust think about that?
Would Skell invite him for beers? Would he get a retweet from Doc? What does Jim make of the prospect of a re-industrialised North? Does Duder even know who he is? Do any of us? Does Neil know his position on Kanye? Just where is Paul and why doesn't Junior love us any more??
Meh. Disillusioned. The fact they can shred their expenses with abandon, as the documents were deemed not in the public interest. The fact that only mugs are getting sent down for Libor, as it would destabilize the economy - I am of the opinion that they are all bent and serve only the interests of their masters The City.
Only the ones with hella skeletal content in dey closets are presented for your voting pleasure. Sailor Ted and dem. They will do their masters bidding lest light be shone upon their indiscretions.
China got manufacturing on lock. You've seen what happened when they protested for more democracy. Living wage here will never make products cheap. They'll tell you what you want to hear to get in but nothing is going to change. Greed is basic human nature. Power has always corrupted.
Corbyn - too old to appeal to da kidz. You need someone like a smug Tony. Been married three times it says. Something about judgement and commitment will be mentioned in his character flaw list. Without the jocks voting Labour, I really struggle to see how the current lot will lose their majority. They divided and conquered.
Manamana Poncho still doing dey siestas. Talmbout Sanchez. The Argies. Workshy Samba Kings. Everyone will cheer up when they have quaffed their New World plonk and groped enough birds arses to make it back on the plane to the grey skies and golden sponsors of Euromanglands.
I can't believe TV folls are saying City will struggle to make the top 4. The squad that finished second +Sterling +De Bruyne minus the mug strikers has watched other red-tinted outfits deal their way into the CL before a ball has been kicked?

THIS. All of this. Vote Jimster!
Corbyn
Who?
I'm [em]planning[/em] on making Barcelona permanent*. New set of politics to be jaded with. Boris Johnson will be PM in a few years I reckon, which will be like having Krusty teh Clown in charge.
*although will travel to where the work, sunshine & beers take me.
The summer break in the football world has become such a side show that early form is basically meaningless. Wenger used to insist on taking the entire squad to Scandinavia or some such to drill them for the new season. Now it's all World tours and social media appearances. Did I mention Stoke have been signing Barca players? It's a new world for sure. Still that young English kid at West Ham looks like a player. I hear he's a gooner as well..
I don't think that's true. Not kidz on the left anyway. They all jumped ship to The Greens because Labour haven't represented anything truly left wing in decades. They already seem to be flooding back to try and vote him in as leader.
Some of his policies seem way to, sadly, disconnected from the reality of the shitty system we have become accustomed to to ever have a likelyhood of become more than a lefty dream. But on a smaller scale I think he could do well as he has that ordinary man appeal about him and so many are sick of the slick and self severing. But I fear his appeal wont stretch beyond us soft hearted lefties, as everyone else believes they deserve to be lead by a cunt (as long as he's their cunt) because at the end of the day that's the only thing they still respect. I can't imagine the field day the rightwing press will have if Corbyn actually runs. They'll think it's Xmas.
Last week Tories sneaked in a law to prevent you paying Labour subs automatically out of your wages. Just another little dig to make supporting any form of opposition that bit more difficult. Working class mugs who voted these maggots in, I turn to you and s my f h.

Anyone can set up a direct debit to Labour if they so wish.
Manufactured outrage, methinks.
But there will be a degree of apathy around the admin that will lose Labour some £ - I have to have a chip and pin reader with me to set up a direct debit, even once logged in.
Are you saying labour supporters are so lazy that they can't be bothered to lift a finger to donate?
And is this akin to popping out for a paper n milk in your dressing gown because you can't be bothered to have a wash n get dressed?
Aka the Jeremy Kyle ad-break shuffle
If labour can't survive a cursory assault on dey getup/go-ness, they don't deserve to survive.
Shame on any dude who thinks otherwise,
Surely that aint you Jim, who cycled many a mile for work.
But God forbid anyone has to get off they arse to actually do something, eh?
I honestly don't think Pedro will have any sort of meaningful impact for Yanited, to disagree with Henry. With all of these crazy expenditures for the top teams in the Premier league, what they are getting further away from is a homegrown mentality to foster and support new local/young talent. Southampton has invested heavily in just such endeavors and it's worked out cleanly for them so far. Hopefully things will come full circle and more emphasis will be placed on supporting players that come up through local means, in the style of play that suits them best (vs just signing big name players to fill gaps). The best Yanited players in midfield have come up through their academy system and have been boss.

Dude I fully comprehend such directives are not aimed at me - I agree with those sentiments, St*ve. Indeed, if you can't be arsed to support a candidate in voting or a party with your own coin, please don't be arsed to complain.
I just thought it was a bitch move by the Tories.
As I said before, I am now of the general opinion that any genuine "Socialist" alternative or threat to the status quo will never make it into Number Ten anyway. Anyone wanting to run the show as a family rather than a business will experience more invisible doors and ceilings than Marcel Marceau (The Kenny Everett version, even).
I continue to vote because our local MP lives over our back wall and appears to be the grafting sort.
All I can hope for in the big picture is more of the same - You know I have all my eggs in a cray, cray Ponzi basket.

Textbook Arsenal.
First game of the season and I'm already shaking my head with a familiar, world-weary, "Oh, Arsenal..."
Lol.
Dude, we all know the season is not one game but today was a proper reality check.
Anyone thinking different is a deluded fool.

Alas, it is to the Tory question: who will most guarantee us the next election?
Put that mug £ in.
WHANCSTAINZ.
Already lost the FFP now.
First person that looks at me funny is getting sparked out today.
