Both of those releases are incredible to me. Subtle has some nice releases - I just listened through their catalogue a bit.

Not rare, but I think it gets overshadowed relative to the iconic OG mix

yeah, lots i've never heard before! thanks for the raers, folks.

Edit: that Remarc is crazy esp. when the Guru sample comes in.

I think I first heard the Remarc tune on this mix which captures the sound of the era perfectly...this one was in HEAVY rotation in high school!

I bought an amazing collection of 600 jungle records tonight. The first crate had Cutty Ranks - Limb by Limb DJ SS remix and Splash - Babylon (previously mentioned in this thread). The last crate had a grip of dubplates. I have been after all of the ragga in this collection for years and was finally able to make it happen tonight. So fucking happy right now.

Sweet! Extremely jealous, and this thread is another reminder for me that leaving teh vinyls behind has been painful.

Later next week I'll get some stuff posted. I got in super late last night with the collection and am going back out of town again tonight.

I took a pic of some of the dubplates. I was told most of these were from DJ SS. They are likely "VIP dubplate mixes". Again, I haven't had a chance to listen to them yet.

^^ wow that's a sick score for sure...I would imagine that finding that kinda stuff would be far more difficult in this day and age, unless the "candy flippers" are getting old and don't wanna lug it around anymore... people in my area hold on to that stuff and RARELY get rid of it.

i'd also love to see a list of what you got, I am sure there are loads of classics just the SS V.I.P (remixes and such) stuff can be pricey to get a hold of

fantastic track from Bukem and great use of the sample from reel by real

Ed Rush & Optical ruled in the late 90s.

Doc Scott is such a great DJ

still sounds good - and works on the dance floor

Too bad that at least 90% of the jungle / drum&bass; records did not age well at all.

This collection has blown me away. There are still 7 more crates too. Definitely the best buy of the year so far for me. I love this stuff.

I thought the current narrative is that dnb is a genre that refuses to die? No matter how many people want it to go away, it lives.

Liquid Drum n Bass, like the crossover stuff from the nineties when pop artists like Bowie or EBTG were begging producers to work with them.

Zomby is still a total lunatic on twitter but he releases clean sounding tracks with the classic jungle drum patters.

This isn't even mentioning all the juke producer guys who started working in the amen breaks into their tracks in the past couple years....

Thanks for posting about the Planet Mu comp and the link to Dub-One's SoundCloud. I bet that dubplate mix of Thunderclap will be good.

I can post this in Real Headz but thought I'd ask here first since one of you guys may have it.

Do any of you have a rip of the AWOL comp? The vinyl and not the CD. The vinyl is labelled as "DJ Friendly / Unmixed".

I don't own that, but I'll check soulseek later... it's usually great for dance music.

Looks like a great comp. Don't have it, but I own a few of the singles - not sure what the VIP mixes are like though.
