Lima, Peru Strut

I'm in Lima for three days next week for work. I'm cautiously optimistic that I can ditch some meetings for a little digging. Can anyone point me in the direction of discos usados? I don't need your secret squirrel spot or the flea markets, just a store or two with a decent selection.

I think I have meals covered, but I'm grateful for all suggestions, especially late night spots near San Isidro/Miraflores.

    Hola Dan, welcome to Lima the only place in the world where I have never ever seen one single music shop. And I have been in quite a few spots of the city so far delivering my freshly baked French/Peruvian/whatever mixes (not music related this time) all around on the bike (scary job that is as they do not know how to drive)-> https://www.facebook.com/dydtraiteur.     People in Lima and overall Peru just looove to eat, they do not go diggin'. So food wise I will be way more helpful. Peru is prolly the best gastronomic SA place those days, you will soon find out why and the huge speciality is the fusion (like I do in some ways too). Give me a few hints and I will see what I can suggest.

    I'd love your thoughts on where to eat. Wednesday night we're definitely eating at Astrid & Gastón. Tried for Central, but it's booked through August 31. Tuesday night it looks to be a drink at La Rosa Nautica for the sunset and then one of Amaz, Rafael, or Maido. This is based on a bunch of googling and some recommendations from friends. Monday night we arrive late and it seemed like a sandwich at La Lucha would be a good call. For lunches I'm thinking La Mar and El Mercado. We're staying at the Westin, which I gather is in San Isidro.

    Money isn't an issue because this is all expense account. If you think there's something better, perhaps less corporate for a Tuesday night dinner--maybe with a view of the ocean?--let me know. Is there a better spot for a late night dinner on Monday? Any place I need to try for lunch? Some breakfast joint you can recommend? For me, the only redeeming part of this trip is the opportunity to eat well in Lima!

    I don't know what kind of free time I'll have, but if you're looking for trades I can bring some records and maybe we can connect. I'm always into South American jazz, psych, funk, whatever. I can probably get away after dinner one night.

    Ahah no trades for me Dan as all my sonic ish' remains in Paris (poor babies). But yeah if you get some time after dinner and are not completely stuffed I could recommend a few places for a drink in Miraflores.

    You mean that Astrid y Gaston -> http://www.astridygaston.com/ (the couple has a few other restaurants but under other names I recall)? That place is ridiculous but I suggest you should spend more time visiting the house if that is allowed than taking pics of the plates.
    La Mar for instance is another of Gaston's creations. It is really good, although may'be not the best cebiche in Lima but the better ones use leche de tigre from some 60 old port towns dudes in the North (yeah los abuelos y abuelas always have those better recipes) and you will be nowhere close to them.

    Westin in San Isidro sip -> Calle Las Begonias 450. San IsidroLima, 27. Your company is loaded wow... The closest La Lucha would be that one -> La Lucha - Ovalo Gutierrez.     And if you do not like it there is a Lucha in the food court of that 'mall' Larcomar.

    Parque Municipal 105 Barranco). Food is not the best but it is decent enough and you could visit Peru through dishes. Plus they have some traditional dance/music shows some nights. Quite cliché but that might be enjoyable at some point for some.

    You could always have a drink at Central although... That place is quite unique. El Bulli of SA for sure!

    Breakfast? People get their morning fixes at those street chariots vendors on the corners. I like the sweets here though -> http://www.pasteleriasanantonio.com/. Coffee is incredibly good in Peru (like cacao) but Peruvian do not possess the knowledge to process it in most places (they are getting better though).     Well like Peruvian people you should be quite busy eating loadddds of great food and no time for diggin' then (this must be why there are basically no records shops)!

    Get in à cab and ask for thé corner of tacnaquilca
    There are 3 dealers downstairs and à more premium dealer upstairs

    Thé best ceviche in city is avenida Canada ( how a propos) street all thé shops are solide
    Ask cabbie for cevicherias de la avenida Canada

    I recommencer jazz zone as a good spot for live music and food drink
    Avoir thé !iraflores touristique clubs
    Grab à pork sanwhich for breakfast

    Thanks to everyone who gave me advice! It was helpful and appreciated.

    I made to the record mall, which was as grimy and dingy as you would hope. My uber driver warned me that the neigbhourhood was "peligroso", but i had no sense of that.

    There was a real dearth of quality records, largely i think because all the dealers had computers. Even the South American sellers of dross know what's up in 2015. I did find some decent Enrique Lynch records, and some decent Cuban records, but everything was in lousy condition.

    Yeah, I don't know how I mucked up those images. Are there still mods? Can they be fixed?
