    Red Astaire - Follow Me

    definitely Afro Heat 1

    Prince - Kiss 12"

    my post of the day.

    how about some

    900#

how about "Let Me Clear My Throat"? I remember an old thread about how this side of the pond, it works, that side it's a no-no.

As well as Blackalicious "Alphabet Aerobics".

"Dub Be Good To Me" - common, but good to get people shuffling

Dawn Penn "He Don't Love Me and I Know Now" (or whatever it's called)

FK5 Thunderball remix of "Bam Bam", and once you've got a crowd moving at jungle speed, there's a host of decent tracks that work - specially if they're bootlegs of recognisable songs, like "Not Ready"

Bowser "Let Your Body Funk" is about THE ONLY bigbeat/nu-skool breaks thing I like (Freskanova records)

Tone Loc "Wild Thing" I try and use the bonus beats whenever poss

    Beastie Boys "33% God"

Red Rack 'Em "Midnight Feeling" bootie

Anything by Quantic, lots of singles on Tru Thoughts

    Groove Armada "Maximising

    Sugar Bear "Don't Scandalise Mine"

Unfortunately, no, I haven't any knowledge of what that is. I imagine, raer, funky, West Indian/JA goodness. Crate staple?

Not funky, steppers roots reggae with a dope Glen Brown Rhythm and requisite Tubby dub (which is why kept 2). Crate staple for me, avatar for you?

    Kevin.

  • Missy Elliot - under construction + various 12 inches
Paul Wall - new lp (is an instrumental version coming? or how many singles are out from that so far)
    Sharon Jones - new lp
New Order/The Cure - various 12 inches....i need serato so i don't have to make those last min "just like heaven" or "close to me" decisions

    flossy!

was Shannon - Let The Music Play mentioned?

  • Dawn Penn "He Don't Love Me and I Know Now" (or whatever it's called)

    K in Canada.

is that the same track as "No No No", cuase that bassline is even more than sittin sideways (i mean the first one, the dancehall re-recording is nice too thought)

Yep, same tune. Dancehall one is alright, but don't swing with digital rhythms so it ain't my thing (and who can fuck with Studio 1 original rhythms?).

  • Y'all should get with the DJ cut to this, too - most don't know it's over the same tune

    .

nice...i've heard that before but never knew the name, so i might have passed by that record without even knowing it. i think i might have it on a Trojan 3cd box somewhere...but i don't have the 45...yet.

    thanks

Ooh, I wonder how those would sound together?

    Paging Ross Hogg...

that could be hot....might have to use the dancehall version so the tempo stays locked, and as strong as the studio one version sounds alone it might get eaten up by swishahouse (or "lost in the mix")

Don't think Trojan licensed any Studio 1 tunes - can't think of one off my head.

i read somewhere...maybe here, that those trojan sets were kinda shady with how they licensed things, the put some songs on those 3 CD boxes that they never had the rights too.

MAybe for their original 70's things I can see them doing that, but out of most of the comps and releases lately, the only tune I can think of is Perry's "Doctor Dick" off a ska comp from the 80's.

I may be way off, but it just strikes me as odd that the Dawn Penn would be on a trojan comp.

    K.

  • i wasnt talking about dawn penn, i was talking about the DJ track that uses the same riddim..

anyways, i got your email...i'll reply to it tommorow, peace

That's the Dawn Penn I was on about, and a definate staple. Thanks for the Deuteronomy image, but I think I'll remain the-man-with-no-avatar... once these folls get started there's no stopping at just one.

Oh yes. Love this tune. Ray Mang did a nice edit without the vocal.
