Once someone told me there was a Jews For Jesus record with a drum break.
I have listened to many many JFJ records trying to find it, but never have. They all suck.

What records/artists do you listen to over and over again looking for that break.

Once I "found" this one, I immediately felt like an idiot for ever "looking for it"...

    Roosevelt Franklin?

  • LaserWolfLaserWolf Portland Oregon 11,517 Posts
    Had it.

Also C is for Cookie 12" Larry Lavan remix.

I never found the Doc Severinsen one. Might be a cover of Spinning Wheel. I did hear it once, I remember the cover, Project 3 most likely. But I have never had it.

Come on people, don't be ashamed to admit you dig/dug for breaks.

I always thought this was a mix-up with the Blowfly track?

I remember back in the day, somebody told me Liberace had a break. Not sure if he meant the vocal thing that De La sampled or actual drums, but either way, I never followed up on it.

I don't recall open drums on it, but this is what I know as the Doc Severinsen break record...

And yeah, I also remember hearing about a Liberace break that I've still never unearthed.

has got a funky-ass track on it....I believe with a break.

the intro works very well to mix with the breakdown in Bongo Band's Apache.[/img]

  • I always heard there was teh breakz on the Gap Band IV but I couldn't determine what the hell foolz was talmbout. Maybe I needed to pan it to one side or somethin'. Never figured that one out.
I heard there was a break on a Tom Jones rekkid but I never really tried to actively seek it out.
Would anyone admit to thinkin Leo Sayer had a braek due to soulstrut lurkin back in tha day?

That's on Parrot I just saw a beat copy at Value Village. There's probably a hundred copies at Crossroads Trading Mall in PDX.
You really can't find this?? Don't pay more than 2 bucks when you do lol

The best and probably rarest P.Y.H.I.T.H drum break in my opinion is Joe Alvarez (famous Filipino singer of the 70s') live at the Seattle Center.
Has a cheap looking white cover and black label. If you can find it buy it!

Early on I did plenty of the reverse, finding breaks and thinking no one knew about them.

  • Isn't the Liberace just the vocal sample "And now for my next song, I'd like to return to the classics"??

Tom Jones is Looking Out My Window and also a track on a live LP that Primo used for that little beat interlude on Step In The Arena LP as far as I know.

Hahaha, yeah, I remember doing that, too. Fortunately, I was disabused of that notion quickly.

Still after a library lp / Media music series that has a famous Jurassic 5 sample on it. Those lib's all have the same cover and there are tons of them.

Those are the music library records like Bruton,Hoctor etc and they were all literally in libraries at one time. At least here in the US. Then when libraries started phasing out their vinyl for cds in the early 90's etc they ended up at the record stores or collections. If I had known back then they'd be sought after, I would have checked out all of them and just paid the lost fines. lol
I have a few Bruton ones that are stamped "Property of Seattle Public Library"

You mean the break to 'Action Satisfaction'? If so, good luck with that. Those are the original library recordings for the Hanged Man soundtrack - Drama Suite Vols I & II. They usually go for upwards of $300 each. Volume II has the Jurassic 5 break.
