How Many Chairs Do You Have?

People seem to have way more chairs then they think.
My buddy says 47 chairs are required for civilized living.
I have 32, more than twice what I would have guessed.

Count your chairs room by room, including the garage, basement, attic.

If it is designed for one person and can be moved it is a chair, including folding chairs, camp chairs, stools...

If it is designed for more than one person or is attached to the wall/floor it is not a chair.

:weaksauce: I know. But nothing else is happening around here.

I'm always surprised by how many tiny chairs I see at antique/thrift/flea markets. My friend and I have a very immature game that we play wherein whoever spots a tiny chair first points it out and gets to Charlie horse the other guy. The alameda antique flea market is usually a slugfest. What's up with all the tiny chairs? Are they for dolls? Most of the ones I see wouldn't even fit a kid. Was there a tiny chair craze at one point? I really don't get it...

Seems like an arbitrary, yet exact number. How did he come up with 47?

    I love this question!

I have two wooden chairs and one shitty metal/foam bullshit future looking thing (serving as my couch) in my apartment. I have a camp chair in my car.

    I have four chairs!

yes. I assume your living room seating is primarily bean bags?

shame about the "can be moved" clause. Because toilets are chairs, really.

That is how many he has.

People please count lawn chairs, patio chairs...

When I shared a dorm room and all we had was a bed, desk and chair There were still 2 chairs in the room.
People on here who are saying 2 or 7, I assume you are in a studio apt spending your whole paycheck on records.

26 chairs. I had no idea I had that many.

My wife didn't believe me recently when I told her we had 17 champagne flutes and didn't need all of them.

I cringe when I think of all the stuff I used to have before the 5-year purge.

  • We have 7 chairs. And 1 couch. And having answered this, I realize all of our chairs are pre-1968. I hadn't considered that previously.
