soundtrack hype?

anybody else noticed the remarkable horror movie soundtrack output on wax over the past months?

all of them housed in fancy sleeves. all that wax in glittering colour variations...

didn't listen to a lot of of them but i like these:

    or TV shows? never knew tv shows warranted a soundtrack release now a days either...

    wow wasnt it just mainly the twangy guitar thing between scenes? I remember hearing the Peddlers On A Clear Day and thinking how odd it sounded, I couldnt work out if it was just that I wasnt used to hearing music in the series or that it didnt really fit the mood of the scene

    I thought the music on Breaking Bad was great. I found loads of good songs through the show. The musical director got pretty well known off it, doing interviews etc. Not the sort of thing which needs to be on vinyl though, too many different selections and moods and those picture discs look like nasty bootlegs.

    Are both of the soundtracks you first posted by Death Waltz Recording? I know they specialise in releasing old horror scores. I always thought it was an amalgamation of the cult obsession with horror b-movies and the cult obsession of buying new sparkly records, and a specific area of music which may not have been so heavily mined (if at all) in the past by record companies so it gives the company a good identity and USP. I haven't listened to any either but I bet some of it's great!

    yes, both of them from Death Waltz...

    there are certain other labels now that seem to specialize in creepy soundtracks. others are Stella Edizioni Musicali or One Way Static.

    this one is not bad either

    I liked Breaking Bad but did, too, find it overrated.

    Relatively on topic, did we ever find out what was the vaguely Carpenter-sounding tune from the ending of the fourth episode of True Detective?

    Final song of episode 4 is listed as Honey Bee by Grinderman on the HBO site, following Wu Tang when they're in the hood. I don't know if that's the one you mean.

    Thanks for that. I guess I was incorrect - Episode 3 is what I was referring to, when Ledoux comes walking through the field in a dirty pair of Hanes and a gas mask.

    i looked quite extensively and found nothing. im chalking it up to a source within the show. moody synth vibes, no?

    95% of the Death Waltz releases are incredible but you're right the NY Ripper art is kinda janky....

    I mean the genre of euro exploito movies is just packed with incredible, original artwork and imagery from the era... in most cases they had different but almost always amazing artwork for each other European country the movies were published in. Posters, lobby cards, press kits etc. I used to collect this shit.Only using authentic, vintage artwork you could put together the most outrageous gatefold covers with booklet and posters etc. that even random buyers with no real knowledge about the movies would drool all over...
